Diane | 13052 comments Post your nominations here for the July group reads. A significant portion of the book must be set in the featured location. We will be reading a selection set in Tuvalu, a book set on an island from Africa, and a book from a author who is of Jewish descent and in a marginalized population in their country of residence.

World Tour*:
Nominate a book set in Tuvalu:
Tuvalu Book List: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Tuvalu Bookshelf: https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...

Islands
Nominate a book set on an island from the African continent. This can be an island country, territory, or island belonging to a larger country.

Minority Author
Nominate a book written by an author of Jewish descent who is part of a minority or marginalized population in their country of residence.

For a list of books we have read in previous months, click here: Previously Read Group Read Books

*For our featured world country selection (this month it is Tuvalu): If the book selected by popular vote is not written by a native or resident author of at least 1 year, the book written by a native/resident author with the highest votes will also be selected, resulting in two book selections for that country.

Mome_Rath | 1882 comments An island from the African continent? Well, I can easily recommend The Dragonfly Sea by Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor, which takes place on the island of Pate, off the coast of Kenya, and was one of my favorite books from last year.

Laurie | 652 comments For Tuvalu, I nominate The Fragile Edge: Diving and Other Adventures in the South Pacific by Julia Whitty. This country literally has some of the fewest options for books available to me I have encountered yet.

For islands, I nominate Eve out of Her Ruins by Ananda Devi set in Mauritius
