Plan for read-along
-I will be reading the first book with you guys since i usually take a huge break from reading the next book in a series (or never continue the series). I hope thats okay. -And i read acotar quite a while back so im sorry if my review doesnt contain a discussion about that series with GH or i actively dont participate in the acotar conversations (or maybe i dont like it enough to even talk about it, dont judge lol) 😅
- if its 4-7 pm around india then its cool for me.
Thank you, im so excited to read along GH with y'all <3
This is great Lisa! The timing is perfect for me😌I haven't read ACOTAR yet so I won't be able to discuss the similarities.
I'm excited to start💕
Hi Chaity,
Yes that’s ok! All I’m asking is for people to give the book/series a chance, but hopefully you will like the first book and would like to some day read the next one.
That’s ok if you don’t end up putting the similarities in your review but if you make a review about Angel’s Blood you could just briefly mention it in there or not if you don’t want to.
Anyway, I’m excited your looking forward to it.
And thank you for commenting. 💕

Hi Nashita,
That’s great to hear! That’s ok if you haven’t read acotar but at the same time I would appreciate it if people put it in their reviews, non-spoilery, as it would give Singh more recognition. But if you want to I understand!
I’m excited too! 💕

Hi Brooke,
Hopefully it will come Friday at the latest! 🤞❤️ As that’s when the read-along starts, if not and you feel like you need more time we can work something out! 🥰

Hi!
I’m up for reading book 1 in June, but like chaity I’m not sure if I want to continue the rest of the series immediately as I also leave some break in between before reading it. Still not sure yet, I’ll decide after reading book 1.
I don’t mind comparing ACOTAR and this, but I read ACOTAR a while back so don’t remember much of that series. I might briefly mention it in my reviews.
4-7 pm in India is fine for me. That’s where I live.

Hi Bhavya,
That’s ok! I understand! All I’m asking is to give Nalini Singh a try and maybe you would like to carry on the series someday!
Thanks, I would appreciate mentioning it briefly in your review! 🥰
Glad the time sounds good!

Yes I will definitely do that💕
Thanks. I think if we all pull out some reviews (hopefully good ones), it'll reach to many other people. I believe, every review we write, influences (even if its just one person). Hope we'll be able to create some hype <33
Me too Chaity! I really hope by doing this we can give Singh some recognition and love! 🥰❤️
Ik I talk about her books and the series with lots of love a lot; it’s because I’ve read the series and see the series as a whole and can see how much the characters progress! I really hope people will fall in love with them! 😍

I'm not sure about a discussion at a certain time, having kids means its hard for me to pin down an exact time, but I am happy to just read and contribute to discussions when I get the chance to see them.

Hi Emily,
Yes of course I understand! Whatever works best for you! 😊
Hi Emily,

The timings and such should all be fine for me, I usually binge read series so if I do end up enjoying it it'll be hard for me not to just jump into the second haha. I read ACOTAR aaaaages ago and also dnfed the 3rd one because I found it boring lol. I never even wrote a review for either book because I read them before I started blogging and such. I do think SJM is not the amazing writer everyone makes her out to be though (and Rhys is not a particularly feminist hero) so I'll be interested to see just how similar the world/characters are.
I'm not sure if I'll be able to join the discussions on time, I have a toddler and a job so tend to just go online when I find spare time, I'll definitely try to add when I can though.
Other than I'm very excited to start! Only 3 more days to go ❤️

Hi Leah,
That’s ok! Just add to the discussions when you can if you want to. Tbh I don’t understand how sjm is so hyped up when her books are very problematic (I hate rhysand-not at all feminist) and insensitive.
There are quite a bit similarities between them even from words and sentences that it feels sjm has pulled directly from Singh’s books and put it in her own.
Also, there are a book series called ‘The black jewels’ by Anne bishop; and in those books there are bat like people called Eyriens which are identical to sjm’s Illyrians with the same traditions, temperament etc. They even sound and look the same! As well as this there is a character in the first book, ‘Daughter of blood’, called Prythian, which is the world sjm called for her acotar world. So she is not original at all. Sorry went off a rant there for a second 😅
But yes I’m excited! Not long now! 🥰

Hi Kathy,

Hi, looking forward to seeing everyone's thoughts on the series and in comparison to ACOTAR. I loved SJM's books when I first read them but in hindsight they were overhyped and problematic as hell, w each sequel being worse than the last.. So after reading y'all's comments, I have high hopes for Angel's Blood. :)
Hi Abigail,
Yeah I think sjm’s books are very problematic and way overhyped when they promote a lot of insensitive and problematic issues.
There are quite a lot of similarities and I really hope Angel’s Blood lives up to your expectations. 🤞I will say that if you think the first book is a bit slow at the beginning it’s only that it’s setting the foundation and exploring the world; but I really hope you fall in love with the characters 🥰

Hello, the plan works for me 😊 I have the ebook in my library and am ready to get started - looking forward to it 💕

I’ll admit the more people looking forward to it, the more nervous I get because I really hope people enjoy the book and stick with the series 🤞😅

I love the idea of discussion about the similarities!!!While it might not be possible for a single person to write down ALL the similarities
With group work it will be easier!!!
Looking forward to it!!☺

Just poking my head up to say I've been really busy at work so have not had a chance to comment before, but Hi :) I'm here and reading along with you guys x
Hi J.A.
That’s ok! The read-along starts today and finished on the 14th June, giving you a 10 window to finish the first book!
So glad your reading with us! Hope you enjoy the book! 🥰

Hi guys! I am here and reading along as well. Like J.A., I am also slightly busy with work, but I will aim to finish it within the 10-day window!
Hi Sabrina,
Glad to hear it! I really hope you enjoy and have an open mind about it 💕💕
If you need more time let me know! 🥰

omg I finally figured out how to use groups on the app! haha yay cos I hardly ever go on the computer. I finished already but I'll wait till others have caught up to chat about it! I have a couple of other things to read, then I'll start the next one
Hi Emily,
Yay haha! Yeah that’s sounds good. Once people are finished we can discuss and people can add to their reviews if they want to and then I’ll set a date for the next one, if that sounds good?
But hopefully more will want to carry on reading the series after they have finished the first book 🤞❤️

I don't think I will be able to continue this anymore. I had fun discussing the first book with you guys. Thank you so much. Happy reading<3
I'll finish Angels Blood tonight, I think. I do want to read on in the series (so far) and I'll join in for book 2. But I may have to tap out after that and continue on my own. I didn't realise we were going to be reading the books back to back (I sort of assumed one a month - my bad). I have a lot of arcs to read and while I like the first book, this is slightly outside my preferred subgenre of fantasy which means I'd really have to be in mood to mainline it! Anyway, I'm in for book two and I'll see how I go.

Hi J.A
Yeah that’s ok. I mean I can ask what people think about reading a book once a month and see how that goes. But I’m happy you want to continue with book 2 😊

I would prefer to do book 2 next month but I can do it next month. After that I'd rather stick to one a month but I'll try to fit in with hat most people want to do.
Kathy wrote: "Hey Lisa, my preference is to read Book 2 next month!"
Hi Kathy
Ok good to know. Maybe something like the 1st or something like that.
I think for people who have started the second book they can keep reading it as I have made chapters discussions etc. But will set another date for others.

Hi J.A.
Ok thanks for letting me know. Maybe one a month would be better. I will message the group again and see what people say, it’s just hard to gage want people want especially if I don’t hear back.

Then, we can have a couple of days to discuss the book and what people thought about it. (If people feel like they would need more time to finish the book before discussions then say and we can push the discussions behind a little.)
I would also, like to do a separate discussion about the similarities between GH and acotar, to hopefully add into people’s reviews so more can see the similarities, because trust me you will see the similarities. There are even words and sentences taken from GH that can been seen in acotar. I believe it would be good to show this in people’s reviews as more people will see the similarities and see sjm is not entirely original and would like to check out GH.
I understand people are in different places in the world and time zones are different but I hope we can have a time, that is convenient for everyone.
I have looked at people’s locations on the world and tried to come up with a suitable time to discuss the book together.
The time that looks convenient is 3:30pm UK time which isn’t too late for everyone else hopefully. Roughly for Americans maybe late morning like 10-11am and for people in India and elsewhere in the evening like 4-7pm . Of course I’m not sure but whatever your time, does that sound okay?
Or people just add to the discussions and others can reply and discuss with one another; then once everyone are settled with how they felt and have wrote their reviews I will set the date for the next book.
I would really appreciate it if you comment below what you think as I want everyone to have a good and happy read-along.
Any thoughts and questions are welcome as it helps me with what everyone what to do for the read-along. 💕
