The Hunger Games discussion
Prim had made it to the cornucopia, completely by passing the boulder. She shook her head. It was large enough to hide her, why had she been so stupid?! But other than falling and causing a few scratches along her arms, she was fine. Prim's face went hard with determination. She quickly grabbed two daggers. A small backpack. She shoved the daggers into the backpack. One food packet and a very small handful of matches. After her being scared out of her mind and shoving everything that she could grab as quickly as she could, she looked around at the incoming tributes, all making it to the cornucopia as she did. Prim sprinted away. Luckily for her, her small figure wasn't going to be spotted by most. A small smile crept on her face. She looked back at the cornucopia one more time before not looking back and running as fast as her thin legs could take her.
Hero ran inside, legs burning from the hard sprint up the mountain. She snatched a food pack and one of the swords, pausing for a moment before grabbing a dagger in case Markus hadn’t started running, and then sprinting off again.
((I gtg so can I just claim a dagger and a trident for Kitt? I'll post for him later so sorry guys!))
((I can't stay, but I know that Alren is going to run to the cornucopia to get a dagger or two. I'll post his stuff later. Taffeta is also going to try to get a weapon of some kind that is not a sword))
The matches and food packets might be helpful, but she figured she could find some kind of fire source and food somewhere else. She was already burdened enough, and would move somewhat slower with what she was already carrying.
Breathing hard a bit from the effort of climbing the mountain, Kitt dashed towards the Cornucopia and fearlessly – or recklessly, depending on how you wanted to describe it – plunged into the very centre. He swiped a backpack up first from the edge for him to put supplies in, then picked up a water bottle and a small food pack, stuffing them in the bag. As he got closer to the centre, he snatched a dagger and a trident, holding one in each of his hands with the pack on his back. Then he darted out, not quite as quickly as he'd come in because of all the stuff he was carrying, but still rather quickly, and began searching for his ally.
Kitt turned at the sound of his name and found his ally running towards him. "Perfect. Where to?" he asked, looking around the arena from the viewpoint on the mountain. "Forest? It'd provide us with good cover."
Alren made it to the cornucopia. He quickly grabbed a couple daggers before running toward the forest. He had to find Prim. He thought he saw her run that way. He hoped he could catch up with her fairly quickly.
Taffeta stayed at the top of the mountain, waiting for some of the tributes to clear before she went to get supplies. Once she was more comfortable with the number, she ran down. Staying at the top of the mountain gave her time to take a breath. She grabbed a bow and a sheath of arrows. She knew that it wasn't always the best weapon because arrows always ran out, but if she killed a tribute, she could always grab the arrows again, plus she knew how to make her own in the wilderness, so she wasn't too concerned.
She ran away from the cornucopia, not caring which direction she went. She just didn't want to be around for the bloodbath that would be inevitable.
Kitt locked eyes with Vincent as he approached, then gave a small nod, glad at least one of his allies agreed with his plan. Then he looked at Crofton expectantly, as if waiting for an answer, although if he was being completely honest, he didn't really care. A majority had already voted to go to the forest, and Crofton was a smaller, weaker boy from District 12, so in Kitt's opinion, Crofton's input didn't matter as much to him, because he was clearly not the one fit for being in charge.
((Yes =D That'd be great))"
/ /you want to post alren in the forest then? Ill respond when j can!!//
Kitt noted his allies' attitude, but honestly didn't seem to care as he headed back down the mountain to a forest of pine trees which seemed like the safest cover for the moment. He, too, looked behind him to see if Vincent was coming, raising an eyebrow slightly as if to ask this. The boy was quite a valuable ally, but he'd also agreed to Kitt's idea, so for the most part Kitt just wanted to make sure Vincent didn't get left behind at this point.
"We find Saiya and set up," Naja said simply, wiping the blood off her daggers before sheathing them. The cannon shots echoed in her ears, the bodies of the District 9 boy and the District 3 boy lying nearby.
She remembered hearing Jules' cannon shot. How she and Bryell had stared at the screen silently, waiting for him to spring back up and finish the Games the way he had so many times in simulations.
Bryell's cannon shot. How everything had shattered the second it went off. How she'd felt something break in her.
No.
She couldn't remember this.
Not now.
The Capitol was watching everything right now. Everyone was watching.
She'd give them a show.
And then she'd wipe them all out.

While it looked like she was interested in the sword, at the moment, her thoughts were a mile away. She was doing her brother proud, already a step further than he had been with entering the games at all. A bitter smile crept over her face, almost dangerous.
Almost.
Except that the bitterness vanished immediately.
No. Do not think about him. Do not think about anything other than the games. I will not win, and if he's alive after all, he'll see it. He'll see his precious games start to unravel.
He betrayed me.
The Capitol will come crashing down.
And the world will go to shit.
Perhaps I'll see it from Hell.
Naja glanced over the side of the mountain, scouting for where Saiya might have gone, only to see her coming up toward the Cornucopia.
That'll work.
"We might as well stay here," she mused, boredom in her voice. They would have more than enough supplies, as well as an excellent vantage point should anyone try to come back. And as the center of the arena, there were plenty of places they could flee to if the Gamemakers decided they'd been there for too long.

((That's literally the same thing Kitt started doing in training abt his father bc he lost 3 of his family members in the span of about a month and a half... they're so alike it's uncanny... •o•))
"No. No time for that. Father is dead, Kitt scolded himself. You can't go back and reminisce on all the lovely things he's given you. There's no point. Focus on the Games. Focus on reigning in some allies. Focus on getting a good training score. Focus on impressing everyone.
Focus.
So he did. Kitt's gaze didn't waver a bit from its targets as he slashed up another dummy, then another and another. He watched, waited, planning out his every move as he did so. Just like he'd done for so long.
He'd
Never
Stop"
I can see how the "focus on the games" thing is similar, but I didn't even see that until I looked just now lmao I promise I wasn't copying you or anything. Also, I think they're kind of different because Vera is a bit more...lost, if you know what I mean? Whereas Kitt can put on more of a Career boy show but still have those same thoughts.))
"The watchtower might also signal that we're here, though. If we made the Cornucopia look abandoned, more Tributes would come looking for supplies. Either way, it would draw them in."
That was all she needed.
More people out of her way.
And then the Games themselves.
It still didn't feel quite real that she was here in the Games. It looked nothing like where Jules and Bryell had died. She could probably locate their killing places...the Cornucopia was always the center of the arena. She'd memorized their locations, could probably figure what direction from here they'd been.
No.
It wouldn't do her anything but cause more pain, and she had plenty of that to deal with already.
She was here, and that was what mattered.
What mattered was that their deaths were avenged.
What mattered was that this was all taken down.
Her eyes dipped briefly to the daggers at her waist, proof that few people had gotten into the horn. "Besides, that'll make them more desperate if they think there's less left. Put the traps around the closer area in general, I'll be able to take out anyone at a farther range."
She didn't like the thought of Saiya witnessing the deaths - she might be as good as dead, but what little empathy remained in Naja understood that the damage the Games did was thorough.
She was living proof of that.
Emptying the racks was calming, almost soothing, in a way.
It was rhythmic, with a pattern, something to keep her mind busy rather than letting it wander to the dark places it always went back to.
(I'm sorry I completely lost track of the days)
("I still have three more days" BITCH IT'S BEEN SEVEN)
It would be more simple to hang them, she knew, but the ropes wouldn't reach that far without using too much length. Trapping them was quicker and used their supplies better.
She'd kill them quickly.

it's shaped traditionally, however, there are a few...obstacles. For starters, the cornucopia is located at the top of a mountain, the only mountain in the arena besides the ones that surround it. Tributes start in a circle at the base of the mountain. It's actually not very tall, however daunting, and there are footpaths up to the top. It takes the average tribute around 5 minutes to reach the cornucopia, if they're resourceful enough. However, there's an easier way. Smarter tributes might see a boulder at the base of the mountain, which looks odd. That's because it is. You can move the boulder easily, and if you do, there's an entrance from the base of the mountain up to the top, through a cave in the mountain (the mountain is hollow). If you reach the cornucopia, you will find only a small assortment of items.
The Cornucopia Contains:
~ a row of daggers
~ bows and arrows
~ tridents
~ ONLY THREE SWORDS. don't ask.
~ matches
~ coils of rope
~ water bottles
~ small backpacks
~ very limited food packets
