Tributes start in a circle at the base of the mountain. It's actually not very tall, however daunting, and there are footpaths up to the top. It takes the average tribute around 5 minutes to reach the cornucopia, if they're resourceful enough. However, there's an easier way. Smarter tributes might see a boulder at the base of the mountain, which looks odd. That's because it is. You can move the boulder easily, and if you do, there's an entrance from the base of the mountain up to the top, through a cave in the mountain (the mountain is hollow).

The tributes rise up on their platforms. A one-minute toner starts ticking in the sky, counting down the seconds until the start of the games. Don’t step off your platform too early, you’ll be blown to bits.

Saiya waited on her platform, looking around. Okayyy... This was weird. And cold, too. She could probably stay close to her platform while Naja got whatever she planned to get. Part of her felt bad for making her ally do all the work - even though it was Naja’s suggestion - but she also didn’t feel like dying too early.

Hero was already in a running position, ready to make a mad dash to the Cornucopia up the hill. She didn’t even notice the boulder, meeting eyes with Markus and shooting him a quick nod, like she was trying to be reassuring.

Primrose rose on her platform. Her small figure tumbling a few times, but luckily for her the platform was so much bigger than her, she was able to stay on the platform; not falling off. Her bronze hair blew in her face and she moved it away with her hands. She was able to put her hair up into a tight ponytail above her head. She took several deep breaths before she shook her head and a small tear slipped down her face. Prim wiped it away with the back of her hand, quickly. Prim watched as more tributes began to rise on their platforms. She looked around for Alren and then spotted him. She sighed and turned her gaze to the cornucopia. Prim noticed a boulder, she squinted at it warily but then decided she could probably hide behind or in front of it or something. She nodded and decided that that was where she was going first.

ѕнєяℓσ¢к ♡ (mushroomlad) Kitt looked around. The cold bit his skin sharply as he looked at the tributes around him for Crofton. Once he finally saw his ally, he did his best to meet the boy's eyes, already running through a plan in his head.

Crofton looked around. Alright. He could deal with this. He glanced around the arena, taking everything in - including a suspicious-looking boulder at the side. That could be something. Kitt would no doubt start right up the hill, he thought, so he could get there and check it out while Kitt did that. He nodded once at his ally, meeting eyes.

Naja rose onto the platform, russet eyes darting. A winter arena. She'd have to climb the mountain, get weapons, and find Saiya. She'd have a good vantage point at the peak. And the rock and height made for easy killing advantages. This was what she had trained for for years, after all.
(would it be OP if she spotted the rock?)

ѕнєяℓσ¢к ♡ (mushroomlad) ((...I mean...she does have a lot of strengths already...))

(Nah, probably not, she’d likely be the type to notice it.)

ѕнєяℓσ¢к ♡ (mushroomlad) Kitt gave a subtle but distinct nod in the direction of the Cornucopia, showing no intention of running away from all the supplies that were laying up on the mountain. If he needed to kill, he had no problem with it, either. And he could do it practically as easily as breathing.

Saiya jumped backwards off her platform - actually, she fell, landing on her back in the snow, but we’ll say she jumped. She got to her feet quickly, watching everyone else sprint for the Cornucopia.

dagger [ain't that a kick in the head] (aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh) | 1171 comments Mod

Hero shot off her platform, sprinting up the path as fast as she could. If someone tried to attack her on the way up, she could throw a pretty good punch, probably even better than she could fight with a sword.

Prim got into a running position. She then shook her head, no, she couldn't go to the boulder. What if she would be able to get to the cornucopia to get a dagger or something like that. But her thoughts were scattered. What was she going to do? Alren didn't seem to be paying any attention. Prim got into a running position. The moment she heard the gong she was off. She may not be able to survive for long, but she promised herself to last long enough to make it to the cornucopia and to a hiding spot. Prim shook her head, she would have to meet up with Alren later or someone else. She didn't know what to do. The moment the gong went off she bolted. Her long thin legs taking her wherever they wanted. Prim didn't have control of them as they sprinted to the cornucopia. After a few minutes of running, she was able to make it. She had fallen twice, by slipping on the cold icy ground beneath her feet, but she had made it anyway. That was all that mattered.

Crofton nodded again at Kitt, and then sprang off his platform as soon as the gong sounded. He was surprisingly fast. Except, he didn’t run for the path. He went towards the boulder, stopping in front of it, and placed a hand on it. It shifted a bit, and he realized just how easy it was to move.

Naja started running, but her eyes caught on a boulder near the bottom of the mountain. She'd ignored it at first, but she knew firsthand how meticulously the Gamemakers designed the arena. She glanced around her, checking to see if anyone else had spotted it, then sprinted for it. Her hair flew behind her. She tapped on it once, but it was solid. Hard to move.
Saiya had run away, so she didn't have anyone to help her.
She could manage on her own, she decided, and began leaning the boulder to the side with all her strength.

dagger [ain't that a kick in the head] (aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh) | 1171 comments Mod

Someone else had spotted the boulder as well, and was moving it from the other side. Crofton moved around as fast as he could, letting Naja push the boulder and sprinting past her as soon as he saw a sliver of the passage. He was slim, able to fit through quite easily, and kept sprinting, not wanting to look back and see if she was running after him.

Alexandria K (percabethprincess8729) | 333 comments The moment the Games started, Asora hightailed it toward the forest. She knew most of the tributes were going to head toward the cornucopia for weapons. Since she didn't have a weapon--nor did she know how to use one--she ran from the other tributes.

She didn't need a weapon, nor did she need anything else from the cornucopia. She'd just be in more danger that way. She wasn't going to let herself get caught. Not the first day. Not the first few minutes.

Alexandria K (percabethprincess8729) | 333 comments Alren ran off his platform, heading toward the boulder for the cornucopia. As he ran, he planned what he might be able to get. A knife or dagger of some kind, he thought.

He ran as quickly as he could toward the cornucopia, trying to beat the other tributes, but he knew that the majority of them were much faster.

Alexandria K (percabethprincess8729) | 333 comments Taffeta hesitated on her platform for a moment before running. Most of the tributes were taking a path behind a boulder, but she didn't want to go that way. With her skill, she knew she could make it over the mountain fairly quickly. There didn't seem to be many tributes that were running that way, so the path was fairly clear.

Clark bolted from his platform, sprinting to the cornucopia.

ѕнєяℓσ¢к ♡ (mushroomlad) ((Sorry I had to go, idk how much more I'll be on tonight sorry))

Kitt readied himself, and then, as soon as the gong sounded, he bolted towards the path. When he saw Crofton run off into a secret passageway, he was both surprised and annoyed. Seriously, Crofton? I thought we just agreed... Oh, well. If he dies down there, not my fault, he thought as he continued up the path to the Cornucopia.

Vincent kept his eyes on the cornucopia, sharp and focused. As the gong sounded, he steadied his racing heart and dashed up the path, immediately spotting the boulder and racing inside towards the top of the mountain.

Vera spotted the boulder, but there was no way in hell she was going inside a mountain. Instead, she'd take the hard way, she thought as the gong sounded. Not bothering to control the adrenaline pumping through her veins, she scaled the mountain in under four minutes, reaching the cornucopia and pulling herself over the edge.

Erin | 16 comments Riley slowly stood up on their platform, surveying the area around them. Looking around, she put her hands in her pockets to protect them from the cold, but then drew out two gloves which she quickly shoved on her hands. They looked up at the cornucopia. Riley knew they weren’t fast enough to make it up to the top. Her mind hesitated, and when the bell sounded she didn’t move at first. They watched as the other tributes sprinted for the cornucopia. Some ran to the base of the mountain where Riley could see a boulder. Knowing they didn’t time to stand there, Riley ran away from the mountain into the forest.

Everyone seemed to have run away from the Cornucopia, except for her allies. It was probably safe to run in now. Saiya started up the path, running as fast as her legs could take her.
