I was surprised with how few raunchy scenes there were in it because everyone was making it out to be a porno in book form. In reality it's a long book which addresses some pretty heavy topics but all that gets over-shadowed because the author can write a memorable sex scene or two.
reply to Hevz: finally someone who has the same opinion as me. all i hear about acomaf is how it’s a good spicy book when in reality it’s about so much more than that. sure there’s a few good steamy scenes which is cool and all but i don’t like how it’s recognized solely for that
SJM is nowhere close to being a favourite author of mine, I have a love/hate relationship with her books. But I'm starting to think many booktubers, bookstagramers etc have jumped on the bandwagon of belittling the author. Especially with this book. It's really unfair that it's widely recognised (stigmatised?) for the raunchy scenes.
i feel like many people hate it because it’s a trend to do so. SJM writes really great characters in my opinion and that’s what draws me to her books in general. she might not be the best with representation/diversity and i acknowledge that as a minority, but the fact that we can look at her characters, and relate to their trauma. she highlights pretty deep things in all of her series (Feyre’s ptsd, Aelin’s and Bryce’s depression) that other people just see themselves in her characters and people going around shaming and bashing everyone who likes her books is very invalidating because these books have helped many people whether u like it or not. i borrow her books from libraries to not support her as a problematic author, but i really enjoy her books, and i think hating on another person for reading a book is very immature. also the ‘spicy’ scenes are.. not the best. i know people are all about them but i skipped most of them because the whole wing/mate/too-many-rounds thing made me very uncomfortable.
It is interesting to understand that people have different types of addictions. I'm addicted to books and it's true! Of course, it is not correct to call it an addiction because I read that it is on https://papersowl.com/examples/addict... and now I know that I am wrong. But I really think that books can be addictive and a lot of people like to read and read most of their free time.
