so we've decided to kind of speed-read the series (one book every two days), but if you guys are cool with that, then yessss of course!! the more the merrier :).
So we are just waiting for Sanjana to get her copies and then we can start. Most probably later this week.
Hiii I just checked this book out from the library so I'll join you guys too <3It's a reread for me so I know I'm gonna love it

okk so i just finished the first 11 chapters and lemme just say I MISSED PERCY SO MUCH!! can we just have him narrate every single book with his hilarious and sarcastic voice?? ok but seriously he is so funny - "Gabe could sniff out money like a bloodhound, which was surprising, since his own smell should've covered up everything else."
"'Percy Jackson,' Annabeth said, 'meet Clarisse, Daughter of Ares.'
I blinked. 'Like...the war god?'
Clarisse sneered. 'You got a problem with that?'
'No,' I said, recovering my wits. 'It explains the bad smell.'"
ok now i'm realizing that percy's got a thing about how people smell lol.
anyway.
what did you guys think about (view spoiler)? and did you predict that (view spoiler)?? i definitely didn't lol.
Percy is one of my favorite narrators ever!! <3Also I love how Rick names his chapters like I become supreme lord of the bathroom😂😂😂
(view spoiler)
So I was just about to start and saw the names of the chapters, why I am already falling in love with the narration ❤
Cassidy I think you are right, Percy has a thing about how everything smells. He associates everyone with how they smell lol.
nαомι wrote: " I liked the movies when they came out but I rewatched them back in December and I didn't like it as much, especially Sea of Monst..."hahahha i watched them a longgggg time ago so i don't really remember, but i think i recall not liking them because they were SO DIFFERENT from the book :/. if you don't think of it as an adaptation, though, they were pretty good.
i agree - logan was an amazing percy!! the age gap was kinda annoying but what can ya do 🤷♀️
Arundhati wrote: "Cassidy I think you are right, Percy has a thing about how everything smells. He associates everyone with how they smell lol."HAHAHA IKR
I finished my 11 chaps already!! Just flew through them. I understand now why the book fans hated the movies. It's soooo different. I am loving our trio so far. Just gonna wait for everyone else to catch up so that I don't spoil anything.
I'm enjoying the book so far. I like Percy, he has a wry sense of humour and what he did to that Clarisse girl is hilarious :D And I always knew his dad is Poseidon...I've been hearing about it from my friends since ages lol
Hey guys!
I'm having such an amazing time reading this book!! I love the writing style and the way it is narrated. It feels very personal and informal which makes everything very accessible in the story.
I've actually never watched any of the movies nor have I been spoilt for anything. I know! Surprising, right? But I still guessed that Percy's dad would be Poseidon because of how water would behave around him...

But, I suspect that they've made Hades as the villian? At least, that's what I'm sensing... (• ▽ •;)
But after reading so many Hades and Persephone retellings, I've really come to like (love?) Hades so, it's just difficult for me to see him as a villian...
I definitely don't like Zeus that much though tbh so if he turns out to be the bad guy, that'd be great! haha!

Oh, also, I did not expect Sally to die so soon in the book! But I'm guessing we'll see more of her in the Underworld?
don't tell me anything! (٥↼_↼)

The whole Gabe thing was so funny though! The fact that he smelt so bad that he hid Percy's half-blood smell. Lol!
Rida wrote: "But, I suspect that they've made Hades as the villian? At least, that's what I'm sensing... (• ▽ •;)But after reading so many Hades and Persephone retellings, I've really come to like (love?) Hade..."
Hades is my favorite greek god <3
I mean, I kind of love Hades, Poseidon and Hermes equally but if I just had to choose, I'd say HadesCan you recommend some Hades & Persephone retellings?
I agree with what Rida pointed out. If Percy had such a different scent and Gabe helped cover that up, Percy didn't live with his family right? Didn't he used to stay at boarding school?? Not sure how the scent masking thing worked. Lol I am overanalysing stuff.
So has anyone tried the audiobooks?? I am listening to them while reading and the narrator does such a funny accent for aunty Em. It was actually good.
Arundhati wrote: "I hope everyone is caught up to chapter 11 for this might be little spoilery. [spoilers removed]"yes! pretty much everything Rick writes is accurate (though it depends since for some stories there are different versions and also some are darker than it would be appropriate to retell in a middle grade book)
Arundhati wrote: "I agree with what Rida pointed out. If Percy had such a different scent and Gabe helped cover that up, Percy didn't live with his family right? Didn't he used to stay at boarding school?? Not sure ..."wow, I never thought about that but what you say makes sense lol

In Circe, by Madelline Miller, it says that Circe cursed her to become Medusa. Earlier she was a sea nymph or one of the naides and she was very beautiful.
