Vote for Group Read March 15- April 15
Hades & Girl on the Train. Noticed @ B&N that GOTT is getting a really big push. Well deserves it but how do booksellers choose?
Very interesting point Bill. I'd like to know as well.
Bill wrote: "Hades & Girl on the Train. Noticed @ B&N that GOTT is getting a really big push. Well deserves it but how do booksellers choose?"Bill, most booksellers receive advance copies of new books ... and read them. Indie sellers even vote on their favorite of the year or month, whatever.
Thanks for voting Tom. You can vote for one more book.
Ron wrote: "Thanks for voting Tom. You can vote for one more book."I know. I'm not familiar enough with the other books/authors to commit to them yet. If one wins I'll take a good look at it and decide whether or not I want to read it.
Okay. Just wanted to let you know.
Okay folks, I'm going to close the group read vote for this month. Looking over the votes, I'm sure it's obvious that The Girl On the Train won in a close battle against Hades 9-7. I realize that in other groups, it's winner take all and obviously, we will read The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins from March 15 - April 15.
As you know, I like to do things differently here and my feeling is that Hades had drawn a lot of interest from the people in the group. My feeling is that because of that, we will have a group read for Candice Fox and her book, Hades, from April 15 - May15. I can tell you that Candice Fox will be appearing on the thread at that time.
Again, thank you for voting. The numbers are up and I will call for another vote in April, brining back The Dark Room by Minette Waters.

I am trying to get in touch with her. Will let you know.
Sounds good. I do want to read Girl on the Train but it's on a long hold at the library right now, which is why I voted for some others. They all sound good, so I'm glad we will be getting to some of the others after this one.
I agree with Jenn. I want to read The Girl on the Train but would rather wait until the initial rush dies down.
The other books will be brought back for a vote in the future.
I just looked it up at the Salt Lake County library. It's got about 500 holds and about 200 copies. Hopefully it should show up in a month.
Would people be more comfortable if I switched The Girl On the Train to April 15 - May 15?
I have read it, but since there is a lot of interest, but no cheap way to read it, I would favor putting it off so more people could participate. Might take more than a month. My libe had 103 reserves on 3 copies. Maybe a PM to the group to see how many could participate now vs who would participate later and how later?
My goal is to make everyone happy.

Hades by Candice Fox.
Right now, I'll leave everything as is.

I am hold 180 out of 720 holds, and I requested months ago. We will see if it ever comes in! Our library has a lucky day option, where some copies of new releases can't be renewed or put on hold, so sometimes I can get newer books that way.
Boy GIRL ON THE TRAIN has way too many holds. Another group I'm in wants to read this in April. I'll be lucky if I get it in time.I've requested all 3 formats from my library though:
HARD COPY: #34 (20 copies)
KINDLE: #55 (15 copies)
MP3: #18 (6 copies)
Any bets which will come in first???

Print!
I'm happy to change the date on the group read for this book. This seems like a great book and I want to have everyone involved if possible.
I can move up Hades by Candice Fox.

I will be reading it either way, so feel free to go with the majority. I prefer to mostly use the library for my books, but I know others probably already own a copy.
Which book will we be starting on March 15th? (so I can look into getting a copy) With all the discussion I am not sure which one it will be. Thanks. :)
At this point, I would say The Girl On The Train. I just want to see if Paula Hawkins will be joining us. I may have an answer this week.
Several of my groups want to read this, it's beginning to annoy me. Part of me thinks this book is obviously overhyped and probably not worth the time. I am very hesitant to pay full price for this thing. I have requested the hard copy, as well as the MP3 and Kindle copies, from my library.
The author has done avery good job & she like any other workman, she deserves to be compensated fairly for her labours.
But lest I sound sanctimonious, let me confess there are lots of authors I rely on the ICPL for copies. But for a five star I'll go the full tariff.
In this case, my answer is that I do take pricing into consideration. Authors who been on the thread here have told me that they don't have control over the price of their book. My hope is that the reward I am giving you is to have the authors on the thread with us as compensation for reading their books.
I guess the question at this point is will you join us for the group read if Paula Hawkins joins us for a Q&A. I am very close to having an answer on this and if you would like to provide me with feedback on this, then I would appreciate that. Thanks.
