Yes, I suspected she was dead from the moment she disappeared in Cold Blooded. I liked how Jackson connected the threads here and it was actually one of the more enjoyable aspects of the plot.
I wasn't sure if she was dead or ran for some reason. I did like the way the thread was connected. It would not have worked as well, if we read this book after all the entire New Orleans series. I think Lucille told Marta now because she saw the other illegitimate children make a claim to the Montgomery money and wanted her daughter to get her share.
I really didn't know what had happened when she disappeared from New Orleans. I agree with Sharon, the other illegitimate children were going to get Montgomery money and Lucille wanted Marta to get her share.
This was one of the really positive things about this book. I always enjoy crossovers in books or TV series.
Sharon wrote: "I think Lucille started told Marta now because she saw the other illegitimate children make a claim to the Montgomery money and wanted her daughter to get her share"Yes. This makes sense.
I agree with Sharon, too, about Lucille’s reason for telling Marta that Cameron was her real father. Guess she was ready to fess up to Berneda!
I held out hope that Marta was still alive until this story started and Lucille acknowledged she hadn’t heard from her in months. Then I was certain she was dead but hadn’t a clue as to how she fit in with these murders.
