The fact that Ian was Amanda's husband made him more appealing, but I don't think that was the only reason for the affair.
I had figured it was Ian. Troy wasn't married, so he was out. Just process of elimination. I'm sure part of Ian's appeal was being married to Amanda. Forbidden fruit.
Once we knew Amanda's true agenda, it was obvious I think that Ian was the married man. Fitted in with the tone of the novel, what a dysfunctional family.
I wasn’t sure it was Ian until she mentioned the uniform. I expected the author to spring a new guy on us up to that point.
I think a large part of her reason for the affair was because it was Amanda’s husband. That last sexual encounter was telling because she got nothing else from this man, including no sexual satisfaction. He couldn’t have been more disrespectful to her. Even the gifts were lame. She might have begun it because he had money and respectability but she stuck with him because he was Amanda’s man.

Except for the affair with Ian, I respected Sugar for holding her little family together, suffering her demeaning job to get the most money she could and trying to keep both her brother and sister in line.
Lauren wrote: "Probably. Nothing surprises me when it comes to this twisted family."I agree with Lauren here.

I missed some obvious clues when it came to her lover. I was thinking it was Troy, and I forgot that he was divorced. And I completely missed the uniform comment.
I think Sugar had feelings for Ian. I do think she started the relationship because he was wealthy, influential, and Amanda's husband, but I think she developed feelings for him. I was thinking that she put up with a lot from him (feeling degraded and not enjoying what he wanted to do sexually) because she had feelings for him.
