Vanessa (nesshawk) Obscure Holiday Monthly Challenge - July 2021
Dates: 07/01/21 - 07/31/21

I don't know about you, but I love a weird holiday. Give me a reason to celebrate all day, every day! This monthly challege is inspired by those obscure, bizarre, plain ol' wacky holidays out there. Celebrate these holidays this month with a reading challenge to fit. Remember, whether or not these holidays are for real isn't actually the point... reading a book to fit a wacky task is!

Food
July 19 or July 31 (depending on your source) is National Raspberry Cake day!
(Really? Does Raspberry Cake merit a whole day?)
♦️ Read a book with raspberry and/or cake on the cover or where a character eats one or the other.
BONUS points if you find someone ACTUALLY eating a raspberry cake. What is the bonus you ask? As I tell my children, "my eternal love, admiration and respect."

Beverage
Apparently we drink a lot in July. July hosts a whole bunch of booze-infused holidays.
♦️ Read a book with a cocktail on the cover or find a book where someone drinks one of the following cocktails/liquors in the text of the book:

Anisette - July 2
Pina Colada - July 10
Mojito - July 11
Daiquiri - July 19
Tequila - July 24
Scotch - July 27

Location
Independence Day all over the world!
♦️ Read a book that takes place in one of the following countries.

Burundi - July 1
Canada - July 1
Rwanda - July 1
Somalia - July 1
United States of America - July 4
Venezuela - July 5
Malawi - July 6
Argentina - July 9
Bahamas - July 10
Mongolia - July 11
Sao Tome and Principe - July 12
France - July 14
Iraq - July 14
South Korea - July 17
Colombia - July 20
Belgium - July 21
Poland - July 22
Egypt - July 23
Ethiopia - July 23
Liberia - July 26
Maldive Islands - July 26
Peru - July 28

Action
I Forgot Day
♦️ Read a book where a character forgets something, or that features a character with memory issues.

Just Random
July 17 - Yellow Pig Day

I can't even.

♦️ Find something yellow on cover
♦️ Find a pig on the cover
or
♦️ Find the words yellow and pig in text of the book.
(Same book? Sure. Two books. No problem.)
