ARENA 2
Zeke sauntered into the little room where he was supposed to be lifted off into the Arena. A sly smile was plastered on his face. It was go time. He had this all figured out. He needed to act confident so when sponsors saw him and saw the smug look on his face like he knew what he was doing then, the chances of them sponsoring him could go up. His stylist had already suited him up for his death. He gave her a charming smile, "Now Peri, you remember to keep your promise, okay?" He asked, his eyes boring into hers. She nodded continuously, as if eager to have this promise to keep. "And remember to keep an eye out for me so you can keep that promise, okay?" She nodded again, this time smiling. "Aw, you!" Zeke cooed, stepping forward to embrace her. He wrapped his arms tightly around her waist, "Please don't forget the promise." He whispered in her ear one last time. They broke apart and Peri giggled, "You'll have to go soon, but where's your token?" She asked. Zeke hesitated for a moment, not sure if he should show her. "In here," Was all he said, pointing to his heart, not wanting to show her his tattoo and have to explain the backstory with it, which could ruin his acting before the Arena, the thought of Aiden and- He shook his head clear. "30 seconds to ascent." Zeke shrugged, "It was nice knowin' ya." He said, stepping into the tube before his cute stylist could say anything. He blew her a kiss and the plate began to ascend. The tube opened up and the Arena was revealed. Sand. And more sand, and oh, look! Sand! At this Zeke smirked, "Smart little buggers," He said, only audible enough for a camera to possibly hear. "But I'm smarter than you.." He said, his eyes glinting knowingly, mocking the Gamemakers. He looked around, some tributes trembled on their plates, other's in a focused mode, he. Well, he was just going to enjoy the ride. The roller coaster of the Gamemakers. As the clock began to tick down from ten, he payed no attention. He slowly looked up at the sun, squinting and putting a hand up to shield his eyes. "Damn, you guys actually found something that's hotter than me! Bravo, I applaud you on your findings." He slurred, his voice lazy and relaxed. 3, 2, 1.. The clock ran down and Zeke suddenly burst from his plate, but running on sand wasn't easy. His feet sunk with every step but he persevered and after about 3-5 minutes he had reached the Cornucopia. He dug around for supplies. He grabbed the knife and darted from the cornucopia.

Cordelia quickly got dress in the outfit the Gamemakers had given her, hardly paying attention to what it was. Her mind had already gone in a mode where all she could focus on was the games now. She hugged her obnoxious stylist, who meant well but probably didn't understand anything about the severity of the Games. Delia was ready. She'd trained for this, she knew how to survive and she would, her entire being ready for what she's trained for. She knew her luck had run out at the Reaping, but this was the time to change that luck. Her face was a blank slate, completely emotionless and as rigid and steady as her mind set. She said goodbye to her stylist, who had insisted on giving Delia a hug, much to her discomfort. But she returned the embrace and walked toward the tube, waiting for the plate to come. Her hands were sweaty, though she was shivering with nerves, and her eyes glistened with a thin shield of tears. Fear. It was coming. She knew it would but knew she also had to force it out because, after all, fear was the mind killer, and she could already feel it breaking her concentration. So she forced the fear away, mentally pushing the scared thoughts away, just as her plate came gliding down as if floating down from Heaven. She didn't hesitate to step on but felt her hands shake slightly, the fear still working it's way around her body. You've trained for this. You can survive. Suck it up and just do it! She screamed at herself. She was now on the the plate, the tube closing around her. She felt trapped, and pressed her hands against the glass wall, her breathing picking up the pace. Now all she wanted to do was be in the Arena to get out of this tube. And as if her little prayer had been heard, her plate began to rise. She hadn't even heard the robotic voice that usually spoke before the tube ascended. Her stylist waved at her, her hand a blur with the speed she was waving at, as if she knew she'd see Delia again. "Just think like her, Delia." She whispered to herself as she ascended into the Arena.Without warning, the blazing sun immediately beat against her as she made contact with air. She gasped as if she hadn't been able to breathe before, mostly because she's been holding her breath absentmindedly. She looked around quickly, scanning the area like she'd been taught and saw that there was only desert, nothing but sand for miles. The sun had no mercy as it continued to beat down on her, her pale skin already sizzling under the heat. But Deli paid no attention to that as the clock began to tick down. 10, 9, 8, Delia shook out her hands, having finally pushed away the fear to a degree and now was back into the Career mode she had been in before. Her eyes narrowed, her jaw clenched, she watched the clock tick down. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... Go, go, go, go. She jumped off her plate like a monkey, landing steadily on her feet and kept running, pumping her arms, never glancing to the side. It took her less time than she thought to reach the cornucopia, the sand being hard to run in but she'd made it with the first couple of people. Her eyes sought out the needed supplies and weapons. She grabbed the ax and dashed from the commotion.
((Ahaha, no, I wrote it this morning because I woke up early and figured I'd write it before you posted the arena :D))
The pleasantries before she stepped into the chamber were simply pleasantries, and nothing more. Leah had said goodbye to her stylist, who she wasn't a huge fan of, but it was the only person in the room to say goodbye to. She had told Amiel that she would find him before they were separated, but other than that she stayed quiet. It was a solemn time, with little need to speak, for everybody knew what was going on. She had been lucky enough that the Capitol had pretty much healed her burned arm, or at least eliminated the pain from it. She stepped into the chamber, rocking back and forth from her toes to her heels.
Leah squinted at the harsh sunlight as her plate rose. The Arena was a total desert, with cracked ground and tumbleweeds and everything. She tensed herself and watched the countdown, rubbing her arms out of a nervous habit. Only when the clock hit 15 did she really begin to prepare to run, and she assumed the position as it hit 10. 9, 8, 7. She looked around again for her allies. 6, 5, 4. They weren't within her sight. 3, 2, 1. She sprung off her plate and took off like a shot, running as fast as she could for as long as she could. After the first few minutes though, she paced herself a bit more, and made it to the Cornucopia in about 10 minutes, which was enough time for her to grab the dagger and spot Cordelia. She fled from the bloodbath in the direction of her friend, trying to catch up.

She fled from the bloodbath in the direction of her friend, trying to catch up.
Delia began to slow her pace, instincts kicking in. She knew she had to save her energy now that she had a weapon. She slowed to a light jog, her eyes darting for side to side, but as she continued to widen her distance from the bloodbath, she relaxed a little more, but not enough to feel comfortable. Suddenly, she heard footsteps behind her. She tensed, but it wasn't visible. She gripped her axe tightly, and then whirled around, crying out to scare the tribute and get them off their game a little as she charged them. She had a wild look in her eye as she came face to face with Leah. She paused, axe mid-swing, a couple meters away from Leah. She hesitated, but did not put down her weapon, not knowing if Leah had suddenly changed when the Games started. She didn't say anything for a while as she stood frozen, not knowing what would happen next.
The moments leading up to Scarlett being placed in the chamber were filled with nothing besides thought. Not thought about life or death, but instead thought of her family. She'd never been especially close with any of them, but close enough to care. She blinked several times as the sun brushed into her eyes, and her head began to feel heated up already as the red color always encouraged heat to burn her head, typically. One. That was the only thing she saw as she raced forward with no strategy. Leaping off of her plate, it took her a bit over five minutes to make it to the Cornucopia and grab a javelin. She had basically just ran and not stopped running to pick up the javelin. She ran into nothingness, and she thought that she saw a person in front of her.
Leah jumped back, away from the axe that came swinging towards her head. She stared at her friend, who seemed to be waiting for her to move. She knew she would have to say the right thing, if she wanted to stick with her friend. "Cordelia," she said. "Why did you just almost kill me with an axe?" She laughed after she asked the question, thinking of just how ridiculous it was, her shoulders shaking slightly and a smile spreading across her face. Hopefully it was enough to make Cordelia lower her axe and see that it was just her, just Leah. It was actually beginning to worry Leah, that their friendship could be broken apart by the games, and that Delia might actually kill her. She, too, sort of froze, waiting for what might happen next.

Why would she be laughing? Shouldn't she be scared? Delia's eyes didn't waver from Leah, but neither did her axe from the position it was in. "I didn't know it was you.." She mumbled, knowing that staying here was an even worse idea than chancing it with Leah, whom she didn't know if she could trust, the Games having brought out fear in her. But she knew if she moved, Leah could take that advantage and-She shook her head, trying to clear the doubt. But she couldn't but she wanted to, but she couldn't. Her eyes narrowed again, suspicious of Leah.
"Okay," she said, dragging out the vowel a bit. She was becoming more and more nervous by the second, and she could tell it was starting to show. She did her best to keep it hidden though. "But you do now..." She wasn't really sure what to do, her friend seemed to think she was an enemy, and she didn't know where Amiel was. She wanted to find him though... She didn't want him to be all alone or get hurt. She tried to let her thoughts about Amiel and Cordelia show on her face, how she wanted them to stay together, to do their best to stay alive.
Hadley's expressions were mostly blank. She kept her mouth shut and did what she was told to do. She stared in pale thought. Her hands shook and she chewed the inside of her cheeks. Hadley didn't know what would happen in the arena. She'd never watched or listened to the games. The fear of not knowing ate her alive. She remembered Dom throwing the spear in the Training Center. A chill froze her spine. She looked at the outfit in disgust. She put the bathing suit on, feeling extremely exposed and uncomfortable and not daring to speak, her stylist looked at her in pity. She stood straight, and the voice rang, "30 seconds..." She stared at the floor, not able to think. She jumped when her stylist leaned forward to hug her, and Hadley let her hands hang at her sides. She didn't know this person, and she didn't want their pity. Though the hug brought her comfort and that was all she needed. She stepped into the tube, and was halfway blinded upon entering the arena. Hadley felt heat, the blazing sun, and more heat. It came in waves, one blast of humidity after the other. But she felt comfortable. She didn't mind the heat, it reminded her of her home, being in the fields with John in the summer. Ironically, the arena felt like a home to her. 10, 9, 8, 7... She was snapped into reality. She was going to die. It would come in a painful hellish way, and she was going to die. She started to panic. All of the thoughts she should have been thinking previous to this moment came flooding into her mind. She was going to die and there was nothing she could do about it.
6, 5, 4, 3, 2...
Oh my God.
1
She froze, she didn't have any idea what to do. Hadley tried to find Zeke or Enika or Oceana or anybody. She stood whipping her head around to every direction trying to find something or somewhere but she was paralyzed with fear. Her heart beat out of her chest and a lump formed in her throat. Her hands shook outrageously and she felt as if she were going to be sick.
Stop stop stop! What are you doing!? RUN! And she did. She leapt off the plate, landing not-so-gracefully but rolling to her feet in a small cloud of dust. She stood with her feet set and alert. Adrenaline became the blood in her veins. She ran in whatever direction she thought to go first, and didn't look back.

Caritta held herself together well as she put on the arena clothes, under the watchful eye of her stylist. She barely ever let him dress her; it made her feel weak and helpless, and she could do it herself perfectly well thank you very much. The glass tube wasn't too bad but she was a little claustrophobic. Then she was out in the open, breathing deep breaths of cool fresh air. Wait. Just air. No cool and no fresh. She was in a desert. A desert with no trees no water and nowhere to hide. That sent a wave of panics through her.
nowhere to hide.

Caritta was off her podium without a moment to spare, running off towards the cornucopia. She had to at least get something. If it was a different arena it would be different, there would be water around, and places to hide. But here there wasn't so she needed whatever she could get her hands on.
She reached it 8 minutes later, eyes on the other tributes; watching, careful. She was so happy there was a bow left, and she grabbed it, twins in around to face her opponents.
( please tell me if someone's already taken the bow and ill remove it. And what does the alive thing In the first comment mean?)

She did her best to keep it hidden though. "But you..."Slowly Delia lowered her weapon, knowing that Leah wouldn't just switch into a crazed person like she had. Leah was more stable than that. "I-I'm sorry.. I just-Never mind." She said, snapping back into action. "We have to keep going, get as far away from the other tributes as possible." She said, her mind beginning to put the pieces together. "We should look for Amiel but we can't chance going back in there, what do you think?" Delia felt dumb for having doubted Leah, but, hey, it was the Games, she had to play it safe.
Oceana rolled her eyes. A desert. Fabulous. She'd already taken in her surroundings and realised that there was no immediate threat for her to worry about. As soon as the gong sounded, she tried to run, to run away, but the sand was dragging her down. She resolved to walking and saw a few other tributes head for the Cornucopia. So far, they hadn't got anywhere. So she'd be okay to walk into oblivion.
A few minutes later and the tributes behind her were just a speck. The view infront of her was wavering and she knew it was a mirage. The sun was beating down on her bare back and she didn't like it. What was with the outfit? There was no water! Sweat was trickling down her forehead and she tried desperately to stop herself from running, wasting energy or doing anything not necessary. No one was after her, so she was fine.

Leah smiled as Cordelia's weapon lowered. "It's okay," she said, patting her friend on the shoulder. "And yeah, moving out would be good. I told Amiel I'd find him, so maybe if we, uh, move out for now then circle back around? I'm not sure." She remembered the dagger that was in her hand and held it up to Cordelia. "I have this too," she said. "Not that I really know how to use it very well..." She laughed a short, nervous laugh after the last bit she said. She felt the initial adrenaline of the games start to wear off, only to be replaced by a sudden urge to move. It was a thing Leah got sometimes, similar to the symptoms of ADHD, minus the lack of attention. It was creeping up on her now, and so she rocked from her heels to her toes in an attempt to satisfy it. Thankfully, it did, and she was able to move, but not really move...

@Lucy: Have you made a character? If not, I'm afraid you'll just have to spectate.))
Dom swallowed and looked down at his costume. Swimming trunks. Either it was the fact that there would be a lot of water, or somewhere really hot. His Mentor had told him to plan ahead, and he was already thinking about the fact that he'd go to the Cornucopia and see what was happening.
As his plate rose up, all he saw was a blinding light. Shielding his eyes, Dom noticed that the whole Arena was a desert, with no trees, no towns, no nothing. Just sand and a blazing sun. His back was already boiling. As soon as the gong sounded, he tried to run to the Cornucopia but noticed that he couldn't get anywhere very fast. He saw a few people run - or rather, walk - away holding weapons and he decided against it. He turned around to where he saw his sister's back, her plait hanging loosely.

Caritta saw others running off and contemplated her chances of hitting them from 300m away. She had to admit, a killing shot wouldn't be likely. So she turned and ran in the opposite direction to where she'd come from. She was worried though. There was no water in the cornucopia and they were in the middle of the desert. So she stopped running and slowed to a walk, knowing that she'd see if anyone tried to approach.

((Weeeeell, we could have Scarlett follow them too?))
It was getting tiresome for Oceana. It was taking her too long to get to the end of this desert. There had to be an end, otherwise she could just keep walking. She was already losing her breath and felt tempted to stop but knew that it wouldn't do anything; it wouldn't help her. She might as well just stop and let someone kill her. It was bad enough she missed out on getting a weapon..

[ But wouldn't Scarlett be ahead of them? ]
[ Maybe they could follow her? ]
Scarlett wasn't giving up on the heat yet. It was indeed getting her and she thought that she had seen some mirages of her family and so she knew that she had to stop and find some shade but her mind stubbornly refused to. Although she would never normally find it to be, the javelin was beginning to weigh her town. The heat again. Dam***. She stopped when she saw a small bush. It was bigger than the others and when she sat down it had okay protection- okay for a small bush, that is.
((Okay!))
Dom had reached his sister and placed a hand on her shoulder softly. "Oceana, stop." His voice was soft, unlike the previous tones he had once used on her. Scarlett's just gone into the bush over there and I think that we should try to make an alliance with her."
Oceana turned round and laughed slightly. "Are you kidding me?" Her brother shook his head slightly. "I know she doesn't like me!"
Dom rolled his eyes, "Which will get us Sponsors if you make up with her," he whispered in her ear and was already dragging her with him, his feet sinking with every step.

"20, 19, 18, 17.." You're frantically looking round the Arena, trying to take it all in. Just to think, you might be the Victor. Your fellow tributes around you will all be dead. 24 come in, 1 comes out. Unless there are slight rule changes? You shake your head, knowing the Gamemakers won't be at all friendly to you this year.
"12, 11, 10, 9.." Nope. No way are you going to let the Gamemakers control you. You're a free spirit and nothing will get in your way. Apart from the other tributes. But you will deal with that later.
"7, 6, 5, 4.." The choice is yours. Do you run to the Cornucopia? Take the weapons you know you are best at and kill the others during the bloodbath? While at the Cornucopia, do you quickly form an alliance with the Careers to slaughter any lower-district tributes? Or do you run away from the Cornucopia, scared you could die? So, in that case, do you look for water? Or do you run and try to find your ally, hoping they still want to ally with you?
The Arena is a dessert. A barren, dead, dessert. The sun is blazing hot and there is no water.. except for in the middle of the town, where there is a fountain that sprouts fresh clean water. This is the only water source; it could also become a killing zone for Careers since all the tributes will have to go there in order to stay alive. The Cornucopia is situated far off the right of the Arena - away from the tribute’s eyesight - occupied with nothing but sand. If tributes are courageous enough to walk for 20 minutes - or run for less - from the Cornucopia, not knowing there is actually an abandoned town 20 minutes from there, then they will find the abandoned town. They cannot see the town until they are about 5 minutes’ walk away.
The Arena looks like this:
The town looks like this:
No tribute knows that there is a town. No tribute knows about the water fountain and what happens to it, how to work it etc..
And of course. There are only five weapons.
