Both married Americans - Aline eventually marries the former stable boy on the estate who makes his fortune in America and returns, while Olivia marries the business tycoon Gideon Shaw.

For most of the story this was a solid 3 stars. But at the end, I was sorely tempted to drop my rating to 2 stars, and eventually settled on 2.5, rounded (reluctantly) up. Overall it was your typical dramatic regency tale, but I really hate when an author expects the reader to believe that the protagonist (in this case, Aline) can be so stupid when she is supposed to be so intelligent. I can't stand the martyr complex, and Aline had it in spades - I was gritting my teeth and rolling my eyes so hard at the eventual HOA. I'm just glad I'm done with this book. At least Olivia was smarter than her sister.
