Looking for YA romance novel with fantasy, paranormal characters! I just finished reading the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead, and I really loved it! Can you please recommend me something similar? I tend to like strong male characters who are a little older than female characters (Dimitri and Rose relationship was awesome!) can anyone help me? Thank you!!! :)

I'd give four stars. The story I found was really interesting, but not perfect. I really love the characters tho!

Have you read the Vampire Academy Spin Off -> Bloodlines Series?? It's about Sydney and Adrian. Also really good! (though Adrian isn't the typically strong male character)
Try Smokeless Fire by Samantha Young. The entire series is wonderful and the covers are freaking gorgeous. You could also try White Hot Kiss by Jennifer Armentrout :)

Anything by Jennifer Armentrout,
(amazing series )
another amazing series set in school at the start like vampire academy
this newer series of hers isnt yet completed but it is amazingothers have you tried mythos academy series, another supernatural school type thing
Have you read the Shadowhunter books by Cassandra Clare? It's got basically EVERY paranormal and fantasy creature under the sun. The first book is
.Also,
is pretty good.
I know that this recommendation doesn't completely fit with what you are looking for but I think you might enjoy Christine Feehan Dark series. The first in this incredibly long series that is still going is Dark Prince

But you can also try Mythos Academy by Jennifer Estep. Although the H is not really much that older with the h.
The Vampire series of Bella Forrest is also a good one. :)
And of course, The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare.
Those are good books with also amazing reviews. Enjoy!
I would definantley reccomend
and also
..really good YA , lots of different types of creatures. and
is good also YA
Has anyone tried Haven Awakening? It hasn't hit the main stream yet but I loved it! I thought Vampire Academy was great, also loved the PC Cast House of Nyght books. Needed a break from vamps and that's how I ended up with Haven. Haven Awakening
I would recommend one of my all time favourite books, The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa I'm pretty sure it was the series I read right after reading the vampire academy.
Another really good book was What Kills Me by Wynne Channing
There's been so may great recommendations said already! I agree with Nicola about Jennifer Armentrout's books. You can't go wrong there! Also, I agree with Morganville and Mortal Instruments. Great series! Here's a few others that I have read and loved like VA:
Jennifer Estep has a new YA series started -- Cold Burn of Magic which I haven't started (everyone recommending her Mythos books reminded me).I liked Once Dead, Twice Shy by Kim Harrison but definitely has a school setting and is missing older love interest (and not the most believable angels of death worldbuilding to get them to a high school setting--but enjoyable).
I also liked the Mirganville Vampires, definitely an older and forbidden love interest there. Hard to discuss without spoilers.
While I wouldn't classify it as a YA series (the main character is extremely innocent and naive but it isn't in a school setting) I would definitely suggest Written in Red (the Other Series) by Anne Bishop. It is an excellent read.
I second the anything by Jennifer L. armentrout, Something Witchy This Way Comes, Morganville, Bloodlines, and A Joh From Hell. They're all really great books! Here are some more I recommend,
