Chelsea (twinkle89) | 6 comments Looking for YA romance novel with fantasy, paranormal characters! I just finished reading the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead, and I really loved it! Can you please recommend me something similar? I tend to like strong male characters who are a little older than female characters (Dimitri and Rose relationship was awesome!) can anyone help me? Thank you!!! :)

Dexx Peay (dexxpeay) | 6 comments I didn't read the Vampire Academy series. On a scale of 1-5, what would you give it?

message 3: by Johanna (new)

Johanna Ross Have you read the Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine? I really liked it!

Chelsea (twinkle89) | 6 comments I'd give four stars. The story I found was really interesting, but not perfect. I really love the characters tho!

J Have you read the Shadowhunter books by Cassandra Clare? It's got basically EVERY paranormal and fantasy creature under the sun. The first book is City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare .

Also, Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) by Kami Garcia is pretty good.

Sophie (sophieg13) | 64 comments I know that this recommendation doesn't completely fit with what you are looking for but I think you might enjoy Christine Feehan Dark series. The first in this incredibly long series that is still going is Dark Prince

Do you prefer vamps only? Bloodlines by Richelle Mead is must read after reading the Vampire Academy series.

But you can also try Mythos Academy by Jennifer Estep. Although the H is not really much that older with the h.

The Vampire series of Bella Forrest is also a good one. :)

And of course, The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare.

Those are good books with also amazing reviews. Enjoy!

message 19: by Artemis (new)

Artemis | 2 comments Has anyone tried Haven Awakening? It hasn't hit the main stream yet but I loved it! I thought Vampire Academy was great, also loved the PC Cast House of Nyght books. Needed a break from vamps and that's how I ended up with Haven. Haven Awakening

message 20: by Rehma (new)

Rehma khan | 1 comments I would recommend one of my all time favourite books, The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
I'm pretty sure it was the series I read right after reading the vampire academy.
Another really good book was What Kills Me by Wynne Channing

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) Jennifer Estep has a new YA series started -- Cold Burn of Magic which I haven't started (everyone recommending her Mythos books reminded me).

I liked Once Dead, Twice Shy by Kim Harrison but definitely has a school setting and is missing older love interest (and not the most believable angels of death worldbuilding to get them to a high school setting--but enjoyable).

Cold Burn of Magic (Black Blade #1) by Jennifer Estep Once Dead, Twice Shy (Madison Avery, #1) by Kim Harrison

I also liked the Mirganville Vampires, definitely an older and forbidden love interest there. Hard to discuss without spoilers.

message 23: by Kat (new)

Kat Leavis | 4 comments While I wouldn't classify it as a YA series (the main character is extremely innocent and naive but it isn't in a school setting) I would definitely suggest Written in Red (the Other Series) by Anne Bishop. It is an excellent read.

message 24: by Shelby (new)
