Play Book Tag discussion

I read this based on it having won awards, and it has received lots of good reviews. Unfortunately, I didn’t really enjoy it. I didn’t particularly like the style, and it was also made quite difficult to read due to one of my personal bugbears – the lack of quotation marks for speech. This book can be read in different ways, and depending on which copy of the book you read, you either read the modern story about a teenager called George, or a story about the Renaissance painter Francesco del Cossa. I much preferred George’s section, but Francesco’s section just felt a bit like reading a literary experiment that I, personally, didn’t get.

I think this is one of those books that is either loved or hated. I can understand if it wasn't your cup of tea. But, I loved it.
