The Inheritance Games ended with a bombshell, and now heiress Avery Grambs has to pick up the pieces and find the man who might hold the answers to all of her questions - including why Tobias Hawthorne left his entire fortune to Avery, a virtual stranger, rather than to his own daughters or grandsons.

Thanks to a DNA test, Avery knows that she's not a Hawthorne by blood, but clues pile up hinting at a deeper connection to the family than she had ever imagined. As the mystery grows and the plot thickens, Grayson and Jameson, the enigmatic and magnetic Hawthorne grandsons, continue to pull Avery in different directions. And there are threats lurking around every corner, as adversaries emerge who will stop at nothing to see Avery out of the picture - by any means necessary.

Had to do a quick flick back through book one, and it reminded me just how excited I was by the end. Looking forward to seeing what happens next, but I'm guessing it won't be straightforward.

Up to Chapter 6- (view spoiler)[ I really like how this book was able to pick up after the long break from the first book and still allow me to remember what happened in the first book without me re-reading it!!! I was really impressed with this! /spoiler> (hide spoiler)]

I also like that we're finding some of the brother's dads. It's really weird that Sky kept them secret in the first place.

Ch 61-80 (view spoiler)[ So Toby isn't her dad? Ugh I don't want Ricky to be her dad, he's awful and TRIED TO KILL HER.

Ch 81-90 (view spoiler)[ So does Toby have a second daughter out there or did he really just mean that he considers Avery his daughter?

I'm kind of bummed she chose Jameson, I like Grayson more. But there's still another book to go! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 26- (view spoiler)[ Probably an unpopular opinion here, but I forgot how much I disliked Max's fake swearing in the last book until she was brought back into this one. This chapter slapped me right in the face with annoyance....

And another unpopular opinion...I know everyone is loving Jameson, but I like Grey...Yup, I said it :) :) (hide spoiler)]

Team Grey!! I'm with you there. Also, I agree that Max's pretend swearing is irritating and she might as well just say the actual words

First quarter - (view spoiler)[I had forgotten so many details and thought I might need to reread book one but everything came back to me only a few pages in and with each mention of all the character’s names. There is still much discontent brewing and Avery still feels like she doesn’t belong to the wealthy world she now inhabits, with private boxes to support the sports teams she owns and private school with other privileged teens. Second quarter - (view spoiler)[All these mysteries are driving me crazy, but in a good way. Avery discovered that two of the charities on the previous will had connections to those who died in the fire, twenty years ago. She also discovered that Sheffield Grayson was the uncle of one of the boys who died in the fire, Colin, and was also Grayson’s dad.

Their following theory was that the three were patients at Camden House who met just before the party and fire, which makes it even sadder that Kaylie was blamed for everything and not them. (hide spoiler)]

Third quarter - (view spoiler)[Still mystery after mystery is being uncovered. The ‘true north’ in the will referred to a holiday home and the group discovered who Nash’s dad was whilst there. The digits on the wedding ring pointed to another holiday home too and Zara later revealed that Nash’s dad was removed from her to become the caretaker there. Toby has now been revealed as a Laughlin! (hide spoiler)]

Fourth quarter - (view spoiler)[This kept me hooked throughout. I love all the puzzles and how much is consistently unearthed. I also like the relationships forming and feel invested in the happiness of all these characters.

The final quarter contained just as many mysteries as the previous three, with Avery discovering she was not Toby’s daughter but that he did have a biological one he wanted to keep out of the Hawthorne family mess. Avery was blown up, kidnapped, and had a gun pointed at her. The story did not end with too much resolution but, after all the reveals, I didn’t mind and am so eager to see where the story will go next. (hide spoiler)]

I liked Max's character here but I heard this series was being adapted for TV and I can already picture how 'Disney Channel' she is going to appear, if they keep her close to how she is portrayed here.

I'll admit, Jameson definitely grew on me at the end of the book and finding out he really cares for Avery, but I also do prefer Gray, but well done to the author for even putting Jameson in the running...before the last 1/4 of this book, I didn't even think he would have a chance. HA!

I am surprised by how much I enjoyed the ending of this book!

Just got my copy and am very excited to jump into this read with y'all!

Ch 1-11: I like when an author doesn't go into a full-on recap to remind the reader of everything that happened or each character's background as if we can't remember ourselves. I like that this author just gives an important snippet to jog our memory.

Thus far, I am curious if (view spoiler)[ the Laughlins will ever apologize for their poor behavior and moods, especially Mrs. Laughlin. (hide spoiler)]

Ch. 23-27

This is getting GOOD (view spoiler)[ Skye is a trip! She is coming out with all the tools. She is so bad I actually enjoy her just for the evil/cunning ways she shows. I am wishing for a dramatic slap delivered to her from Libby just like in a Dynasty tv show (original or reboot)! Very happy that Max is back. She is a great supporting character. (hide spoiler)]

I totally agree. I loved book one but this one just absolutely blew me away!

Agree! (view spoiler)[ I never thought that would be part of the story. The mystery of their fathers was always intriguing and highlighted the selfishness and how non-maternal Skye was as a character which I felt helped drive her character as the main villain and one to always hate. Zara isn't any better, but as Toby said they have all been poisoned being in that family. Sad, but very interesting dynamics to read about as a reader. (hide spoiler)]

I’m thankful Avery isn’t blood related though, I feel like it would’ve made the ‘romance’ aspect of this book weirder then it already is.
