George Orwell Matters! discussion

Hi everyone,

I'm Jean, and have just become your new moderator :) l noticed that although there are 234 members here, who are all interested in George Orwell, Fahrul the founder may have moved to pastures new, as he has been inactive on Goodreads for over a year. I moderate 3 groups, and can see great potential here ... Goodreads approve, so here I am.

At the moment I'm reorganising. I've created some folders, started off some new threads, and written a few ground rules. You may notice that we have a new group name already. It is no longer "george orwell" but "George Orwell Matters!", which I hope you will feel reflects the feel of the group - whichever way you interpret it. With a good core of members already, I'm sure we can make this a great group!

I've just sent everyone a message about the relaunch, and hope you'll join in enthusiastically, as we already have such a good base.

Keep your eyes open for new threads, discussions, group reads and lots more :)

I've added a cover, to brighten up our home page. It's of vintage paperbacks by George Orwell. Hope you all approve :)

The cover looks great. George Orwell was so thought of. So many have read his book 1984. I am very interested in this man. The cover with the blue door looks so inviting for folks to come in. Thank you so much for all the time you are spending on this group.

You're welcome Josephine :) Clearly many people share an interest in George Orwell, as membership has shot up in this first relaunch week by about 70, to over 200 members. It's amazing!

You have really started (re-started?) something!

I think the "Animal Farm" might be a good start. It is popular and well known.
