What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

So i remember the plot was this girl was raised by her two terrible aunts who made her sleep in the basement and steal veggies from some dudes garden and one day a guy ftom a magic world shows up and hands her these orbs and says shes been chosen to go on a quest to find a bunch of magic items. I specifically remember the red potion bottle and a pheonix feather. The aunts are gonna try to go instead of her, but she takes the orbs and goes pn her own. I remember trolls sniffing them to tell whi had magic and who didnt.

Is the girl a teenager or a younger child?
