"A Child Called "It"" by Dave Pelzer is a Biography/autobiography, child abuse, and a self-help book. In this story about Dave Pelzers childhood he shared what he went through growing up. He suffered one of the most severe child abuse cases in California at the time. His mother was his abuser and would like to play abusive games with him. He had to learn to play to survive her games, but soon he became an "it".

This story was heartbreaking to read, but it also makes you realize that everything is not what it seems. Dave went through something so painful as a child. It made me more aware to be understanding and more aware of others. It was a good story to read, but it was very hard to read at some parts too. Although it was hard I'm glad I read this book because of the awareness it brought.
