Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments (view spoiler)

Name: Constance Arlette Chevalier
Nickname: Lettie

Age: 25

Nationality: French

Appearance:

(view spoiler)
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 110bs
Eye Colour: grey green
Hair colour: black

Personality Traits: Clever; daring; mostly honorable; intuitive; resourceful; somewhat deceptive; freewheeling; sarcastic; mannerless; meddlesome.

History: Constance spent the first eleven years of her life living in the New France station Colony just off of the planet Marlonia. Her family wasn't the bottom rung, but they definitely were close. Though they weren't starving they normally didn't have enough money do anything special. Just before her twelfth birthday, however, they had saved up enough money to take their youngest daughter on a trip to Marlonia, which was one of the most historic planets in existence. Each of the children got a trip there on their twelve birthday, and luckily Constance was no different. The vacation was splendid, they spent their time helping at an archaeological sight, and the young girl even got contact numbers in case she wanted to keep track of the findings at the sight.
It was on the flight back that things changed, the passenger ship was just passed the atmosphere when it stopped moving. Her father offered his help, since he was a mechanic and engineer, though he had only ever had to help work on a ship engine once, he could probably help. The pilot allowed him to take a look at the engine while tension rose in the passengers' area, but it the problem was that none of them were small enough to fix the problem. This was when Constance's father had the idea of using her, she was tiny, and smart, even though she'd never actually worked on anything like this before, with help he was sure she could do it. With careful instructions, and lots of detailed communication, Constance was able to get the engine running long enough to get them back to the Station. The other guests on the ship were ecstatic that she got it running again, thanking her over and over, but when her parents stepped off with her they were arrested, charged with negligence, and sent off to be sentenced. Apparently they weren't charged with neglecting Constance though, it was the rest of the passengers, and Constance was arrested as well. Her parents, just like any other adult arrested, were killed, sent off into space, but Constance was put in prison, awaiting a trial at eighteen where they would decide if she was worth keeping or not.
After three years in the station's prison she and two friends she'd made formed a plan to escape, not only the cages they were held in, but the whole colony. There were so many planets they could go to, including earth, where none of them had ever actually been. It took a few months, but their plan plunged half of the station into chaos and the trio were able to make their escape, stealing a military pod and setting it's autopilot for Earth, though they had no idea where on the planet they'd be landing. The plot was a complete success, their pod landed in an abandoned NASA ship yard on the East Coast of the US, though they weren't sure exactly where. The yard was full of everything from old airplane parts from the late twenty first century, to shuttle parts marked 2452, which was the year Constance was born.
Constance, now going by Lettie, Yves, and Raynier, made the shipyard their home base. Tearing up the insides of the still standing buildings and making their home inside. The three were able to find a single working automobile from twenty years prior and get it started, using it to get to the nearest town for supplies. The small town of Lannis Florida was about an hour and a half away, and though they had seen the landing, none of them were nosy enough to care. There they were able to get supplies, advice, and even an ally from the planet Andor, who knew about their history from the memories he could read just by being in the same room. Telkin Shran, an Aenar, was completely blind, but he could not only read their thoughts and memories, he could also link the the four so that they could communicate using only their minds. Telkin, who lived underground ten minutes away from the shipyard, became their tutor and guardian. Teaching them the history of Earth, The United Federation of Planets, and of anything else they wanted to know about.
The one rule Telkin gave them was to act like respectable people, that meant to theft, trespassing, or anything else of the like. Raynier, who was extremely hot-headed, didn't like this rule, and his opinion was that Telkin wasn't their leader, nor was he their father. When he was eighteen he left, Lettie and Yves, who were seventeen and fifteen, were sad, angry, and frustrated, but they couldn't have stopped him. After Raynier left Lettie through herself into her work, mechanics, fixing anything and everything in the yard she could find, while Yves tried to get a job in Lannis, but he had trouble since only one of his hands was actually usable. He came back with no luck day after day, until Lettie presented a project she and Telkin had been working on for a few months. A mechanical glove that would act as a hand, and after a few tweaks and test runs the glove worked, making him stronger, and much more useful in his mind, though neither Telkin nor Lettie ever though he wasn't.
The two of them spent another six and a half years working and studying under Telkin, until the authorities finally caught up with them, and while Lettie was distracting them Telkin and Yves were able to escape. For the second time Lettie was hauled to prison, but her work in the ship year didn't go unnoticed, and before she knew it someone new was contacting her. The head of Starfleet gave her a choice, have her record wiped clean and go through Starfleet Academy to become an Engineer for them, or get thrown in a high security prison for ten years, then get sent back to New France, which most likely meant she'd be sentenced to death. She chose life, of course, but she didn't know that one of her best friends, Raynier, had chosen the exact opposite end of the spectrum, he'd become a Ravager, and a good one at that, and it was Starfleet's job to bring him in.

Family:
Raynier Delacroix - 26; Fugitive; Ravager (view spoiler)
Yves(Eve) Mercier - 23; Fugitive; Unknown (view spoiler)
Telkin Shran - Unknown; Fugitive (view spoiler)

Other: She's been stationed as the Assistant Engineer on the USS Odyssey.

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Name: Yildirim Chobir
*Yildirim= lightning in Turkish
Nickname: Whitey

Age: 51

Race: Detzsei
(view spoiler)

Occupation: Starship Helmsman

Appearance:

Height: 6'3"
Weight: 186lbs
Eye Color: celadon green; turns more yellowish when he's angry and turns greener when he's emotional
Hair Color: mostly silvery-white with touches of light blond

Personality Traits: curious; distant; observant; short-tempered; adaptable; somewhat oblivious; reckless; trustworthy; hard to win his loyalty.

Background: Yildirim comes from the planet Lumon 3-7 where two main species resided: the Detzanons (a warrior-type people) and the Visei (scholarly-kind of people). They shunned each other, but they shunned those who had mixed blood even more. Those with mixed blood, Detzsei, normally were snatched away from their parents and thrown out of the cities, left to fend for themselves in the wild. Yildirim was one of the Detzsei and for a while his parents managed to hide him, taking turns to stay with him in a secluded home to avoid suspicion. But when he was fourteen he was discovered by a random Detzanon hunting party and was immediately taken away and thrown out into the wilds. After a couple days of wandering, Yildirim found a group of fellow outcasts who started a society of their own. An old matron was their leader and he was schooled in both scholarly things and warrior lifestyle from the various people in the small village they set up. For quite some time the Starfleet had begun communication with the planet Lumon 3-7 when Yildirim was thirty. By the time the Starfleet showed up, Yildirim showed expertise in speaking a couple human languages, math and physics, and combat skills. Despite his young age, he was unafraid of learning more about those in the Star Fleet and so when he was old enough, he went on to the Starfleet Academy when he was forty-two. Graduating from the Academy at the age of forty-nine, Yilidirim was assigned to a ship. So far, Yildirim has been one of the first of the Detzsei to explore space and so he's been almost a commodity on board. Recently, he has heard something about an assignment about chasing someone named Ravager.

Relatives:
Abish Chobir- Detzsei Matron; 296

Other: After living with some humans, Yildirim has grown an interest for something called 'dessert'. He's always fascinated to taste new things and he had a fondness for testing out different gadgets he finds as well. He can speak a few human languages and a couple Alien ones. Right now he's studying more languages.

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments The Starfleet academy had been much more of an interesting ride than Lettie had first thought, of course she would never admit that to anyone but Yves. Except she hadn't seen the boy that she viewed as her little brother in more than four years, and she probably wasn't going to get to see him anytime soon since she was technically still on probation. She thought about Telkin taking care of the boy, who was probably more of a man now. Glancing down when she felt a sharp pain she realized she was holding onto the railing in front of her so tightly that her knuckles were turning white. She let go of the bar and folded her arms, still watching the busy courtyard. Turning away from the groups of students Lettie ran a gloved hand over the tattoo on her left shoulder and wondered if Raynier or Yves had gotten anything added to their matching ones since they'd seen each other last. She pushed the thoughts out of her mind and tried to concentrate on the day ahead of her, she was supposed to report to flight deck two about ten minutes ago, but there were so many crew members that she was sure they wouldn't care if she was late. She straightened her re-sized, redesigned red Starfleet uniform and unbuttoned the white goro leather vest covering it.

Flipping her blue, laser powered, pocket knife open and closed as she entered the flight deck Lettie felt multiple pairs of disapproving eyes on her, apparently not everyone was happy to be on a ship with a felon. Even if it wasn't technically on her record anymore almost everyone knew, and her obvious disregard for the uniform rules didn't help. She'd cut off the tight red shirt at the waste, as well as the sleeves, then thrown on worn jeans, tool pouches and her goro vest. She ran a hand through her black messy hair and looked around for wherever she was supposed to be reporting.

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Yildirim stood erect in front of the newer recruits, clad in a blue Starfleet uniform that made him look more like a ghost than a living being. Of course, if he wore a red shirt, he might have looked even less alive, his face bloodless in comparison to the crimson clothing. His face was a blank expression as he listed out names of those who were to be assigned to the open positions on the ship. It was a job passed down onto him quickly, after the person who was supposed to take the role had another job to do. A couple of human girls stared at him with wide eyes, which he promptly ignored, figuring they were ogling him because he was a species they never encountered before. There were distant shouts as those preparing the ship went about their business, so Yildirim had to raise his voice as well as he called out various names. Looking down at the list, his brow furrowed as he he took in the human letters, his mind quickly translating it to make sense. "Constance Arlette Chevalier, Engineer 4."

message 5: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments "I would say that I'm more of a ten, but whatever you think I guess." Lettie shrugged as she walked up to the group of wide-eyed recruits. Her platform combat boots made her about an inch taller than normal, which was still at least an inch or two shorter than any of the other humans there, at least there was an orange skinned guy with yellow horns coming out of the sides of his forehead that was probably about four and a half feet tall, definitely shorter than Lettie.

message 6: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Raising a brow, Yildirim looked over the group of recruits until his snake eyes landed on the approaching human. When he found her, his face fell into a frown, recognizing the person from the profile picture when the captain informed them of the former prisoner that would be joining them. "It isn't what I think, Ms. Chevalier. If anything, perhaps you would wish you're more of a one?" he said, the words slipping out before he could truly process them.

message 7: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments "Well on an attractiveness scale with the orange being a one, and that guy who just passed in the yellow being a ten, I'm more of a fifteen, now give whatever I'm supposed to be doing, Whitey, so I can go pretend to be doing it." Lettie shot a mischievous grin toward the guy was probably her superior and flipped her pocket knife around in her hand again. She'd graduated from the academy in just over half the time of a normal student, whizzed through most of her classes, and never gave a single one of her professors anything to make her look like a model student, except of course her work, which was getting her onto one of the top ships.

message 8: by Ji Mei (last edited Feb 11, 2015 11:25AM) (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments "In this case, though, fifteen would be the bottom rank for an engineer," Yildirim quickly inserted in the middle of her words, pointedly looking at the other recruits as if he was daring them to act out in a similar manner as Ms. Chevalier. Many of them cast their eyes to the ground and shifted on their feet uncomfortably. His focus returned just to hear the name she called him and he instinctively raised his chin in an indignant manner. "If you were here on time, Ms. Chevalier, you would have known I wasn't calling your name just for the fun of it. Rather you are supposed to be taking your assignment I have right here instead of blabbing about your level of attractiveness," Yildirim said, irritation seeping into his voice fully now. He had a tablet in his hands and as the recruits came to get their assignments, he would flick his finger across the screen to send the information over.

message 9: by Tessa (last edited Feb 12, 2015 07:31PM) (new)

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments "Right, on time is when I say it is, also I haven't been a Chevalier in a long time, it's Lettie." She flipped her bangs out of her bright eyes and slid her knife into her pocket. After getting her assignment she frowned, "Boring, looks like I'm the errand brat for the first few hours." She rolled her eyes and wiggled her fingers in a dramatic wave, "See you later Whitey." She smirked and walked toward the shuttle she was supposed to be taking, which was full of crew members that probably had a few years over her, she didn't see any recruits on board, maybe they decided that her superiors may have a good influence on her, while she might have a bad one on the other recruits. Sitting in the first free seat she opened her Starfleet issued message device and flipped through the information about their first mission, which was mostly crap about ravagers, nothing they'd actually be doing, apparently there would be a meeting about the specifics once the we're on the ship.

message 10: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments "Just do your assignment, Ms. Chevalier," Yildirim said politely, ignoring her request to be called by her preferred name. Instead, his gaze watched her walk off, silently scolding himself for thinking in the first place that meeting an ex-convict would be interesting. His curiosity clearly got more than it bargained for. Returning back to the other recruits, he went through the list smoothly. Eventually, after all of them were finished, he went to the shuttle he would be taking, nodding a couple greetings to those he recognized.

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments Lettie glanced up when the last seat was about to be filled and smirked, "Well well Whitey, looks like you still have to deal with me." She mock saluted and shot a peace sign at him happily, just as a chuckle sounded behind her. "I guess I know who my new assistant is." she heard a sarcastic American accent behind her and whipped her head around to see a dark haired man with a smirk that rivaled her own. "I really don't think your outfit is within code, it is definitely interesting though." Lettie frowned at him and corrected, "Apprentice, and I probably know more about this engine than you do."

message 12: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments A little bit of color may have come to Yildirim's face as his eyes flicked over to her with annoyance. The ride to their ship won't be a calm one, then. What's more, if the two began to flirt or something Yildirim was sure he'd rather be unconscious than to witness it. Sitting across from her, he folded his arms across his chest and glancing over at Lettie, he said evenly as he could, "I would appreciate it if you call me by my name. It's Yildirim Chobir, not 'Whitey'." His first name was his, at least. His last name was added when the Detzsei Matron decided to take him personally under her wing.

message 13: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments Lettie turned around again just in time to spot a tiny bit of pink flair in Whitey's face for a split second as his annoyance became apparent. "And I would appreciate it if I could have an entire pan of caramel fudge, but we can't all have what we want now can we." she glanced down at the people on either side of her who were buckling their seat belts and rolled her eyes, they were traveling what? Like ten miles? Seat belts were really pointless until you got higher than that. She heard the engineer, who had deliberately ignored her previous statement to him, snort quietly at her comment to Yildirim, but he kept whatever else he had to say to himself as he buckled his own seat belt.

message 14: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments He turned his glare to the American engineer, before giving a small huff. Using the time to buckle the seat belt to distract himself, Yildirim couldn't think of anything smart to say back. Combing his white away from his face, he looked over at Lettie with a calmer expression, forcing his annoyance down. As her superior officer, he didn't need to stoop down to her level and he certainly didn't want to let her have her bother him more than she already had. "Perhaps, but it depends if what we want is a shallow, simple pleasure or if it is tied with a deeper thing such as, I don't know, someone's identity for example," he commented.

message 15: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments With a slight laugh at Whitey's frustrated glare Lettie shrugged, as his face calmed slightly she watched him buckle up. Was it really that bumpy? Obviously the pilot needed practice if they needed to be strapped in. When he commented again "Nope, I'm pretty sure my identity is directly influenced by how much fudge I consume in a day." She winked at him across the isle and crossed one denim covered leg over the other, bouncing one of her boots up and down as she waited for them to leave. "We are clear for take-off, our ETA on The USS Odyssey is eleven minutes and twenty nine seconds." A professional voice announced from wherever the cockpit or the shuttle was. As they lifted off Lettie nestled her shoulders into the seat and closed her eyes, enjoying subtle hum of the motor as they left the ground.

message 16: by Ji Mei (last edited Feb 13, 2015 10:42PM) (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Yildirim didn't think her words many any sense and his brow crinkled in confusion as he stared at her wink at him. Whatever this convict came from, she had a strange sense of humor he didn't understand. Though he managed to pick up of the humor among humans, there were still times that it slipped past him. Giving a shrug, he let himself settle back into his seat, ignoring his fellow passengers for the time being. Every time he was in one of these shuttles, he remembered the first time he left his home planet. He was full of amazement and he looked around in awe when they flew up and away from the surface. They didn't go far in that first visit, only going on board the Starfleet's ship. But that time simply captured Yildirim's curiosity and spurred him on.

message 17: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments ((Normally the huge ships don't actually land, they do the make traveling, then the crew that are actually leaving use the transporter, the shuttle like they are right now, or two person fighter pods))

message 18: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments The ride was smooth, not even jerking a little bit right up until they were sliding into the Odyessy, where they came to a surprising halt, making Lettie fly out of her seat and into Whitey's chest face first. As she flew she let out a string of uncalled for curse words, while the engineer behind her burst out laughing.

((Short post, totally worth it :D))

message 19: by Ji Mei (last edited Feb 14, 2015 10:48AM) (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Surprised, Yildirim let out a small laugh before he could help himself and his arms shot up to catch hers to prevent her from falling even more. Since the ship was still docking into place, he kept his hold of her, the gesture an automatic response. "You should be more careful, Ms. Chevalier," he commented firmly, looking at her with a single raised brow as if he was a stern teacher instead of a simple officer on the ship. "I don't think you make a good impression on the others if you fall onto people's laps," he added in a lower teasing tone, his mouth twitching slightly in a smile.

message 20: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments Yildirim's grip was tight as he held her in place while they finished docking. As soon as his grip loosened she pushed herself away from him and stood straight, using what was left of her pride to glare from Whitey to the engineer before saying in a quietly furious voice "I thought your first impression was that I was a criminal." Her words could barely be heard over the announcement saying it was clear to board the Odyssey, but she was sure most of the shuttle got the idea. The door opened and she stormed towards the exit, but not before stopping in the opening to turn her glare back towards Whitey again, "And it's Lettie." She faced forward, straightened her vest, and walked off the shuttle, her boots making a low thud with each step.

message 21: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments He opened his mouth to retort something back but she was already out of the shuttle by then. Giving a shrug to himself, Yildirim unbuckled himself from his seat and rose to his feet, tucking on the bottom of his uniform to straighten it out. Whatever annoyance the human girl was, he figured he won't see her much. After all, he was a helmsman and she was an engineer. They probably won't cross paths very often and now that he was back on board, he'd be able to concentrate on his own assignment rather than worry about a former criminal.

message 22: by Tessa (last edited Feb 17, 2015 06:53PM) (new)

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments Lettie checked the map on her communications device and headed straight for the core of the ship, though she was supposed to be reporting on the bridge with the rest of the b-class recruits. She took a few wrong turns but was able to make it there just as the engineer who she'd opened the sliding silver door. "Well hello Chevalier, aren't your supposed to be on the bridge meeting Captain Yeina? There's only twenty recruits, she'll notice one is missing." He shot a smile to the glaring girl and shrugged, "Or not, not my neck getting reamed." He shook his head and gestured towards the Warp Core in the center of the huge room, it looked like a swirling galaxy inside a glass dome, and she'd be one of two or recruits working on it, with three other officers, and the head Engineer Mr. Markus. Lettie and Markus were in the middle of a conversation regarding the Core, as well as engines three and four, when a voice sounded through the intercom. "Miss Constance Chevalier please report to the bridge."" She cursed under her breath and rolled her eyes, "Looks like I'm needed elsewhere, who else will be on the bridge anyway?" Markus looked up from the screen at his station with a laugh, "Did you not pay attention in any of the classes not having to do with engineering?" He put his hand up before she could answer and continued "The captain, first officer, communications officer, the helmsman, and the only engineer second to me. Few other people up there, but they aren't as important." He chuckled and waved his hand for her to leave. "Now get out of here before you get into trouble." Lettie rolled her eyes and left the core, heading up two levels to the bridge.
Her name was announced by an automated voice as she walked in in the middle of the explanation. "Miss Chevalier I presume, nice of you to join us." The first officer, Commander Yeina, eyed her suspiciously, said nothing more about it as he continued. "As I was saying, we'll be capturing the fugitives aboard the Ravagers ship, their leader is our target, but we have orders to take all l twelve of them in."

message 23: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments As soon as Yildirim boarded the USS Odyssey, he navigated his way towards the bridge, exchanging a short, polite greeting occasionally with those he passed. When the elevator door opened up to the bridge, he felt a sense of familiarity rest inside his chest and a small smile was on his face before he stepped up to the captain, reporting for his post. Just as he was settling himself in his position at the helm, he heard the captain decide to call for Ms. Chevalier to come to the bridge. The other officers rose to their feet in preparation for introductions and Yildirim reluctantly followed suit. He kept his face blank as the captain went over their objective.

message 24: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments Lettie crossed her arms, but kept her eyes level with the captain as she spoke, instead of looking nervous like many of the other recruits she looked composed, serious, and even like she was actually listening. After Captain Yeina was done speaking a tall terrified looking blonde girl raised a shaking hand, to which the Captain answered with a happy laugh, "This isn't elementary school dear, you're part of the family now, speak up!" The girl stuttered as she spoke, but gained nerve as she her words came out, "Not to question you or anything Captain, uhm- Ma'am, but I thought Starfleet's job was space exploration, not bringing in dangerous criminals." The captain gave a bright smile and nodded, "Indeed, as you all know Starfleet's main goal is deep space exploration, but a lesser known fact about our organization is space defense, which in turn moves us to capture fugitives like these ravagers." Before the girl could answer again she began to introduce the crew members, by their rank, class, then name.

message 25: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments When it came for his turn, Yildirim stepped forward, giving a small salute to the captain before he introduced himself. "I am Lieutenant Yildirim Chobir. I'm the helmsman of the USS Odyssey." Then he watched as the other recruits gave their names, finding it hard to hide his smirk at their jitteriness, wondering if he acted similar when he first joined the captain. It was odd to think of what his life might have been like if the Starfleet hadn't shown up. His home planet wasn't primitive, but on Lumon 3-7, they certainly weren't as advanced as the other alien races out there. He blinked when he realized he was letting himself get distracted, he focused on the captain's answer. He didn't know exactly why either, but he didn't question their assignment. Their commanders usually knew what they were doing.

message 26: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments When it came time for Lettie to be introduced she frowned when the captain referred to her as her last name, and instead of respectfully waiting until she was supposed to talk she interrupted with an annoyed look. "Lettie, just Lettie, I haven't been a Chevalier in more than ten years." She'd actually given up the name when her parents were killed, though anyone official still called her that. Without stopping she continued her introduction, "Everyone here thinks I'm a murderer or something, but really I'm just the best engineer you'll ever have." She flipped her hair absently and folded her arms across her chest, the captain had yet to mention her blatant disregard for Starfleet's uniform, every other female there was wearing the dress that had been issued, of course even if she did Lettie would most likely completely ignore her.
After introductions the recruits were asked to return to their stations, except Lettie, who was told to wait just a few more minutes. The Captain turned to her helmsman and a woman who introduced herself as the weapons specialist, "The ship we're going after is in the Omega galaxy of Seneria, the ship is half our size, but according to our intel it has enough weapons to take down a class-A Military Station." The weapons specialist, whose name completely escaped Lettie, nodded and said "The captain is the boy who melted half of New France at like twelve isn't it? Do you think she'll be able to convince him to surrender?" She glanced at Lettie, who looked like she was distracted by the swirling space clouds outside the front window and the bridge. She didn't realize that the girl was listening to every word, and had to do everything in her power to not ask if they meant Raynier, she'd wait until they mentioned a name. They have to mean Raynier, right? Yves wouldn't become a ravager, he's to sweet, and Telkin would never let him. Whichever it is I won't give him up, I should have realized before that they only put me on the second best ship in Starfleet to become a traitor to my own brother. The thoughts raced through her mind, but she tried her best to keep her face composed and neutral, she didn't want them to realize just yet that she had heard them.

message 27: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments He opened his mouth to chastise Ms. Chevalier for her rudeness and disrespect of authority when the captain caught his eye and gave a slight shake of her head. Letting himself deflate, Yildirim's neutral expression turned into a frown for the rest of the introductions from the recruits. Then as the captain called them to meet, his frown changed to one of puzzlement. Folding his arms thoughtfully, he briefly glanced over at Lettie before he focused on his captain and the weapons specialist. "Well, it said that Raynier Delacroix knew her personally," he remarked, his voice low in an attempt to be discreet. "In any case, perhaps we'll be able to outmaneuver them than outgun them. This ship was never equipped to be a battleship, but it's decent enough."

message 28: by Tessa (last edited Feb 17, 2015 11:21AM) (new)

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments As soon as Lettie heard his name she made her decision, she took a deep breath and started her lie, "Whatever rumors you've heard about Raynier they're wrong." She began quietly, not looking at either of them but now speaking loudly enough for her words to be heard clearly. "I don't know him, I never did. He left me alone to take care of a crippled kid and a lunatic. We never actually knew him." She kept her arms folded to hide the fact that her hands were shaking slightly, she wasn't sure if it was out of anger at Starfleet, anger at Raynier for leaving, or out of the fact that she was actually worried about him.

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Staring at her, Yildirim looked suspicious, but he didn't voice his opinion just yet. Whether she was lying or not, he couldn't tell. But why would she lie? This Raynier person destroyed where she was born, right? At least, that was stated in her file that she came from the New France colony. Mentally shaking his head to dislodge these thoughts, he let his arms drop to his sides as he thought over her words. "In any case, we should be able to get away if we engage in conflict with the ravagers. Our shields and weapons should be strong enough for that, am I correct?"

message 30: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments The Captain, who seemed curious yet unphased by Lettie's words, turned back to Yildirim again, "Of course, our shields were designed to block attacks from the Klingon warships, a ravager ship half our size won't be able to do much, the problem is capturing them, to get them on board we'll have to lower our shields." Lettie gave a short sarcastic laugh and shook her head, "Raynier isn't an idiot, he chuck himself into space before letting you arrest him." She couldn't help wondering if she'd had the chance to do the same before getting arrested herself, would she have done that too? Of course not, she told herself coldly, if she had she wouldn't get the chance now to save Raynier, and maybe even escape Starfleet on his ship. But did she want to become a fugitive again? She was a free woman at the moment, technically speaking, on this ship she had a reputation already, but after this mission she was going to be allowed to leave Starfleet for a time. Did she want to give up the fact that she didn't have to hide anymore? "-valier. . . Ms. Chevalier." She looked up at the captain, who had said her name three times, she'd only her part of the second and the third. "Sorry what?" she asked, her face for once making her emotions obvious as a worried look took over for just under a second, before her normal scowl took its place. "I was just asking you if you'd already reported to Mr. Markus, since you were late coming here." Lettie nodded and answered, her voice now back to her normal tone, instead of the airy distracted one from just a few seconds before. "Yep, and I'd like to get back there, since the bridge is a lot more boring people like to let on."

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments "For being one who doesn't know this Raynier, Ms. Chevlier sounds pretty confident about him," Yildirim muttered under his breath in a dry tone. Since he was in the captain's presence, he kept his temper in a firm grip, deciding it was better to just focus on his job than paying attention to Lettie. They discussed a little bit of their course and route to where they suspected the ravager ship to be and when his eyes flicked over to Lettie he noticed she seemed far away. He was surprised that her tough girl act slipped for a second before it disappeared. "Then I believer our discussion is over?" he asked, looking to the captain for confirmation.

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments "It is indeed, Ms. Chevalier, Lettie you requested isn't it?" The captain asked with a smile, to which Lettie only answered with a nod, "Well then Lettie get back to your station, be quick, I'll wait for you to get back there before starting launch, trust me when I say you wouldn't want to miss your first one on the Odyssey." Instead of saluted her Lettie headed toward the door and waved with two fingers as she walked out. Once she was gone the captain turned to her helmsman and shook her head with a chuckle, "She's going to be a handful, do help me keep on eye on her please." Her words were only loud enough for him to hear, and without giving him time to protest she strolled to the captain's chair.

Lettie let herself into the engine room and leaned over Markus to reach the button that let them talk directly to the captain, "Hey-" he started, but stopped as she said, "Are we starting this thing then Captain?" for once instead of rude her words sounded excited, though they still had her sarcastic undertone. Markus laughed brightly and listened as the captain asked Markus, "Is the warp core hot Mr. Markus?" "Yes ma'am, and this isn't the only hot thing down here either!" The bridge could hear a loud slap and Markus' laugh just before the captain announced. "Well then Mr. Chobir, take us out!"

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments His pale green eyes followed Lettie as she left the bridge, shaking his head to himself. Then he stilled as he heard the captain's words. Yildirim only gave his captain a pained look in response, then he nodded. "As you say, captain." Going to his seat, he checked the statistics of everything in front of him, making sure things were ready for their time to take off. Once it looked like things were in shape, he paused with his hand on the lever that was to take them out into space, his eyes on his captain for the word. They all heard Markus' and Lettie's ruckus and Yildirim resisted to roll his eyes, though why he let that bother him, he couldn't say. "Yes, captain," he replied. He gave a small countdown and then he pushed the lever forward and the ship shot out.

message 34: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments The warp core hummed loudly and swirled even faster as the ship began to travel through space, it changed from bluish to bright purple, then to red, and kept changing as it spun. It was amazing that this radioactive time bomb threw a seven hundred plus meter ship through space as if it was a baseball, of course it wasn't alone, and Lettie was reminded of this when one of the four engines on either side of the core started squealing loudly. She grimaced and Markus swore under his breath, "Engine four, there's a loose-" Before he could even finish Lettie had her laser army knife out and was slipping out of her white leather vest as she hurried towards the engine he'd mentioned, "I didn't even tell you what the problem is!" He exclaimed, going after her before he head her yell over the squealing. "I know what it is!" Instead of hitting the button to make the engine raise she slid right under it and flicked a switch on the side of her pocket knife, which shot out a short glowing blue screwdriver. After unscrewing the plate into the center of the large engine she covered her eyes with her free hand, shielding them from the steam that poured out for a moment, when it cleared she was able to listen to the sound for a few more seconds before setting to work, only taking about ten minutes to fix the problem, as well as one other thing she thought was wrong, the latter probably being the thing that caused the original noise in the first place. Once she was done she replaced the metal facing and pushed herself out from under the engine, her face was as red as her shirt when she sat up, the hot steam hadn't actually hurt her, but had made her a bit lighted headed. "You could've gotten yourself killed under there!" Markus yelled as she pushed herself up into a sitting position, "We have protocol for one reason, keeping our crew safe! Whether you like it or not you are part of our crew and you are expected to follow proto-" Lettie fixed him with a glare and interrupted, "If I hadn't broken protocol that engine would have blown a circuit and taken out a forth of the ship's power, not the best thing to let happen at warp speed." She finished getting to her feet, trying to fight whatever that first huff of chemical steam had done to her head, besides the headache that was already beating through her brain she felt a slight high, apparently she'd breathed in more than she thought. Markus caught her elbow as she drifted sideways, "Not a great first impression." He muttered, listening at the warp core settled and went back to its normal colour. "First impressions aren't as important as the work that you can do." Most of her words were slurred as she pushed herself away from him, concentrating on keeping her balance as she headed back to her station. "None of your normal brain-dead recruits would have known what to do, I did." She landed in her own chair and rubbed at her eyes, willing her brain to clear as soon as possible. "You should to the sickbay." Markus said to her, following her lead and returning to his own seat. Without looking at him she shook her head, "I've been higher than this by choice, I'm fine." Neither realized that the entire time the mic to the bridge was still turned on, letting everyone there hear what had just happened.

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Yildirim's eyes flicked over to the statistics listed in the screen in front of him, noting that there was a report of an engine having difficulties. However, before he could say anything, the microphone filled the room with Markus' and Lettie's voices as they discussed the problem. Inwardly Yildirim felt the same urge as Markus to stop her but it seemed like she was already doing things on her own. At the last of her words that he heard, Yildirim's face set into an annoyed line and his eyes slid over to the captain's. His eyes told how handful was not enough to describe how much trouble she would bring them.

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments Instead returning her helmsman's almost concerned, and slightly annoyed, look the Captain smirked, "Looks like our engineer has found someone crazier than himself." she chuckled and held the mic switch down on the armrest of the captain chair, but before she could say anything Markus spoke up from the engine room. "I don't think I did anything that reckless when I was a recruit, you did though." The officers that had been on the ship more than ten years knew what they were talking about, but pretty much everyone else looked slightly puzzled. No one gave insight to the comment as they drifted through space, slower now since they were in the right galaxy.

After about an hour Lettie, looking angry and feeling like her head was imploding, walked onto the bridge. "Markus sent me up here to switch you, apparently I'm reckless and would be of better use as the errand brat." Her words were little more than a hiss in the direction of the engineer on the bridge, who grinned at the fact that he was getting sent down to the engine room. Markus had sent her to to the sickbay, where the doctor that she couldn't remember the name of gave her something for her headache, and she was able to swipe a different bottle of something that, if she took enough of them, would help her sleep that night, hopefully it would knock her insomniac butt off her feet for more than just a few hours. Once the other engineer was gone she put his headset around her neck and took his place.

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Yildirim was prepared for the business as usual as they slowed to a normal pace and it seemed that he was to be proven wrong again. It seemed there was no such thing as usual anymore when it came to his job on the USS Odyssey. He only watched the engineer who sat at the control next to him rise out of his seat, leave, and suddenly the annoying Lettie was there in his stead. Going the professional route, he simple nodded stiffly before keeping his gaze forward, hoping that if he ignored her enough that his own irritation would disappear.

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments Adjusting the headset Lettie checked the screen in front of her, which just let her know things were normal, and pushed her chair back from the desk. She flipped her black hair out of her face and placing her hands on the arms of the chair lifted herself up to sit cross-legged. The bridge seemed to be a little more peaceful than the business of the engine room, there was only a couple conversations taking place, and a high beep every few seconds that was beginning to get on Lettie's nerves. Trying to concentrate on her thoughts she let a scene between her and Raynier play out over and over in her head, most likely he'd either not recognize her from the long haired, wide-eyed, teenager, or he'd think she became a traitor, either way it would end the same, and that was definitely not good. It was several hours before before the Captain left for a few minutes, then came back in with a frustrated look, "Looks like we'll have to continue our jaunt tomorrow, according to our informant the ravagers' ship is on the other side of Tamenai territory, and it'll be tomorrow morning before we can get permission to fly through." She pushed a few stray blonde hairs out of her face and looked at Yildirim, "Tell her to stall in autopilot for now, we've been given permission to park on the edge of their territory, but not to go any further."

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Glancing back, Yildirim nodded in affirmation. "Yes, captain." It was routine for these kinds of waits, though sometimes Yildirim wondered if they hindered their missions more than not. He blinked a couple times at the unwarranted thought and he made his face smooth. Pressing a couple buttons, he scanned the screen to make sure all was fine before turning back to face the captain. "She's ready to handle herself for now."

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments Lettie, who had been almost dozing off when the captain walked back in, perked up when the captain came back in to let them know what had happened. She swiped the headset off, let it clatter onto the desk in front of her, and stood up from the rolling chair and slid around the captain to get out of the bridge. She walked down the metal hallway, turned at the first right, and leaning against the wall pulled the stolen pill bottle out of her pocket. Without reading it again she downed two little blue tablets and put the bottle back into her pocket, rubbing her temples for a few seconds before walking back into the main hall.

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Though the ship was on autopilot, Yildirim still made sure the second helmsman took his seat so that he could have his rest. Usually an officer below him took the helm for the times he was called away for business or for other things. It wasn't a necessary routine, but it was used just in case of emergencies. He left after Lettie had left and he silently prayed he didn't see her again as he made his way to the galley for a small dinner before retiring to his room. As Yildirim rounded the corner, he couldn't help but let out a small annoyed sigh when it seemed Lettie was dropped right in his path in the main hall, materializing out of his thoughts.

message 42: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments Lettie could feel the pills already taking their affect, whatever that was going to be, as she almost ran into Yildirim. "Oh! Hey Whitey~" She let her nickname for him drag out with a laugh as she continued down the hall toward the galley. She'd grab food and bring it to her room, and maybe eat it before going to sleep, if she even got that far before the mystery medicine did whatever it was, or wasn't supposed to do.

message 43: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments "Hello, Ms. Chevalier," Yildirim said stonily in greeting, wondering as he began walking side by side with her to the galley if he should just skip his meal instead. Or perhaps he was jumping the gun and he was judging her on first impressions. Yildirim's celadon green gaze slid down to look at the girl next to him. Her hair was wild, matching her unruly personality and she looked like she had been through a lot already. It clicked in his mind as he remembered what he heard while on the bridge. Clearing his throat, he put his hands behind his back in an awkward formal posture, unsure what to do with himself. "Um, I trust that you are feeling better? After the incident in the engine room, I mean."

message 44: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments Lettie, who had started letting her thoughts run off on their own, was brought back to Yildirim when he made a noise. His words actually sounded like he regarded her as something other than a criminal as he spoke, which slightly surprised her. "Huh? Oh, yea I'm fine. Markus overreacted, not even close to what fecilium can do, I've taken that a few times, first time was voluntary, second time not so much." she shrugged and blew her raven black bangs out of her face.

message 45: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Yildirim almost expected her snap at him, telling him off that it wasn't his business or that she could handle himself or something similar. Nodding slowly, he returned to looking ahead, thinking his staring probably would be considered rude. "Well, at least you are in one piece, don't you agree?" He didn't exactly have such a dangerous job himself and he never had work that dealt with potential risk. Of course, that isn't to say he never experienced danger. His species alone made sure of letting him know that he wasn't completely safe on his home planet.

message 46: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments Lettie shot him a mischievous smirk and nodded, "Yep, with all the crap that I've gotten into I'm surprised I still have intact limbs, crash landing a single sized escape pod with three kids in it should have killed me in the first place, but obviously I'm still up and rockin' it." she stopped for less than a second as the metal sliding door opened and the pair walked into the galley, where about half the crew was already visiting and eating.

message 47: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Her story wasn't a surprise to him since Yildirim gathered from what little he'd seen and heard about the human girl was that she was a risk-taker. Combing a hand through his white hair to get it away from his face, he had to admit it sounded like an impressive feat. He had nothing really to boast about except that he was the first of his race to join Starfleet. A couple of people he passed recognized him and gave him a friendly wave and smile. Nodding back in return, a small smile flickered across his face in return. Turning his attention back to Lettie, he commented, "I suppose it's better you went the engineering route instead of steering the ship."

message 48: by Tessa (new)

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments Instead of a sarcastic chuckle Lettie felt an actual laugh leave her lips at his words, what that supposed to be a joke or was he serious, she wasn't sure since the tone of his voice hadn't changed at all. "You're probably right, I'd probably end up crashing this thing right into Raynier's ship," She made a face like she was thinking, before nodding with a grin, "Actually that sounds like a great idea, shake him up a little, maybe it'll toss him off the ship completely and-" She was about to say he'd get floated, which really when it came down to it would probably be what he would want rather than get captured by not only Starfleet, but his old best friend, but the thought of that reminded her of watching her parents gets sucked into the blackness of space as she watched in terror, something she hadn't thought of in a very long time. "Nevermind, what do they feed us anyway? Some healthy crap like they did in the academy?"

message 49: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments His green eyes lit up at her laugh, interested in her different response. Her laugh seemed different, though Yildirim couldn't discern how. Human laughter have been one of the more harder things to judge, along with sarcasm as he had come to notice in his time studying at Starfleet Academy. It took him a while to understand the sarcasm in words and after that, laughter, but Yildirim occasionally would miss the mark. His comment wasn't exactly meant to be funny, but he let himself catch on to her humor. "That is probably a better plan to execute," he agreed, managing to drop his words in between hers. It seemed like she never stopped talking. And then she did as she cut herself off abruptly. A questioning look crossed his face, but he didn't say anything. Giving a shrug, Yildirim looked towards the serving area. "I don't know what you mean about healthy crap. We Detzsei eat a little bit differently than humans."

Tessa (panicrocks95) | 1539 comments "Oh a big bowl of Zorellian jelly worms then?" Lettie's sarcastic front came right back into place as she looked over what they had available to eat, sure enough there were many very strange choices, some things she had never heard of, and some she's tried and regretted. "Come on, some normal human food would be great." she frowned, looking over some type of light up bug that was wiggling around in a bowl. Passing over the turquoise jello looking liquid, which was moving a little too much for her taste, and something that looked somewhat similar to an entire miniature squid she finally found something that looked edible. "Well that works, hopefully there's nothing weird in chocolate cake."
