not a cartoon, but a comic book series: I just noticed there's a new Blacksad album published : Amarillo.

Gah - I forgot all about Tracer. I found this link - https://tracerbullett.wordpress.com/b.... I had to click on the images twice before I could read them, but he's a tough-talking, pint-sized dick, all right.

I read Mickey Spillane's from the Files Of...Mike Hammer: The Complete Dailies and Sundays Volume 1 a few months back. Defiantly fits in here. I don't know why it says Vol 1 as there is no Vol 2. It covers all the strips up until it was cancelled.
There are some wonderful Graphic Novel noir. Ben Katchor's work depicting various urban locations; his The Jew of New York; Wil Eisner's A Contract with God and The Tenement; Martin Rowson's The Wasteland (T S Eliot meets Marlow)

Speak of the devil, I just wrote a bunch of reviews for the first four Judge Dredd omnibuses. And those reviews touch on how Dredd started out as a satire of those aspects of American crime fiction that seem ridiculous to British audiences.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I need to remember to finish swallowing my coffee before looking at this topic. You cleared my sinuses! Thanks for the laugh.

My local paper has the worst comics selection I've ever seen.
I found Zippy here - https://www.seattlepi.com/comics-and-... - no paper required.

"Watch out for that tree."
LOL! Reminds me of the time my wife caught me with my 2 year old daughter on my lap watching "Aliens". I told her Ripley was a good role model.

Ripley is an excellent role model, though I suspect some scenes might cause nightmares for younger viewers.
