Amy | 2215 comments How much of the human companion needs to be visible? In this cover it's only a lower leg and boots:

Tender Is the Bite (Chet and Bernie, #11) by Spencer Quinn

Will it work?

message 6: by Susan (new)

Susan | 682 comments So this book fit the image criteria?

Tuesday Night Miracles by Kris Radish

message 7: by Bea (new)

Bea I thought this task sounded familiar! Then I saw who created it...Happy Birthday to your household, Tien.

TraceyL | 1069 comments For option 2, would this book work?:

Contacts by Mark Watson

On the left hand side there is what looks like a person walking a dog, but there's motion blur over it so I'm not sure it's clear enough.

Thanks in advance.

message 9: by Tien (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 2339 comments @Amy, Susan, TraceyL, yes that's fine :)

And thanks, Bea! It's a busy season for us ;)

Robin P | 1679 comments Does anyone know of male authors with initials TH besides Thomas Hardy?

We have several dog tasks this season so I was looking for an alternative.

Tony Horwitz and Tarquin Hall were two I was considering. I'm actually using Thomas Hardy, since I've been meaning to read him forever.

Good question I have found these on my Read list
Timothy Hallinan; Thomas Harris Toni Hill ( wrong spelling for a man but GR describes as he) Tobias Hill Tom Holt

Although i can thoroughly recommend Jude the Obscure

message 16: by Aprilleigh (new)

Aprilleigh (aprilleighlauer) | 1261 comments I'm probably going to use Ty Hutchinson.

Toni Hill is apparently short for Antonio.

Robin P | 1679 comments Tarquin Hall's Indian mysteries are delightful, I think I have listened to them all on audio. As a literature major, I have read a lot of Thomas Hardy. They tend to be rather depressing, though brilliant in their own way. A lighter book by him is Under the Greenwood Tree, which follows people in a village through a year.

I really like Anthony Horowitz as well. Although he goes by Tony in private life, all his books are under Anthony in GR so I don't think we can use him.

Just thought of another one, though - Tony Hillerman, who wrote mysteries featuring the tribes in SW US.

you misunderstand - Tony Horwitz is a completely different person than Anthony Horowitz.

Robin P | 1679 comments Oh, sorry, that must be a pain for both of them, thanks for clarifying!

I read all of Hardy's work for A level, we were doing The Mayor of Casterbridge but had to compare and contrast with his other works; I have chosen Under the Greenwood Tree for this task

message 27: by Robin P (last edited Sep 18, 2021 09:34PM) (new)

Robin P | 1679 comments For Option 2, this is an upcoming book (out in October) in the same series as one approved above, dog plus human legs, just confirming it is ok

It's a Wonderful Woof (Chet and Bernie, #12) by Spencer Quinn

(Interestingly, about the first 8 books in the series only showed the dog but the more recent ones are all with his human partner's legs.)

message 28: by Tien (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 2339 comments yep, that's fine, Robin.

Jessica (bookwrm526) | 2159 comments Hi! I just wanted to make sure enough of the human is showing on this one for it to count for option 2, thanks!

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 4459 comments Verifying that this qualifies for option 2

A Fistful of Collars (A Chet and Bernie Mystery, #5) by Spencer Quinn
It's very shadowy, but there is a man sitting to the left of the dog.
And, of course, there are all the people on the stage, though I don't know if you'd call them "companions."

yep, I can see a definite shape of a man sitting next to the dog, that's fine :)

Julia (julia103) | 2749 comments This has a dog and a person on the cover, but they aren't right next to each other (and I don't see a leash). Since it doesn't look like the dog is running away, would the woman be considered a companion?

Please verify the cover for this one for option 2. The dog blends in with the background, but is easily seen when the image is larger.
