Has any of you read House of Night series?

This one seems kinda similar. Not entirely. But just some.

I have read three first books in that series. And I'm so glad if this is anything similar!!

It seems to me kinda like that...
A special school for vampires... and vampires having elemental magic... and drinking blood being sort of a heady rush kinda experience for the human... All that.
But it also has its own elements. And I feel the writing is better too. I remember being pretty bored reading the first book of House of Night (Marked). But this one is pretty fast paced.

So far there has been a LOT of world building so we're trying to understand what different people are and what their responsibilities are...

So, I've finished till Chapter 16 and there is so much going on but I have no idea who to suspect.
(view spoiler)[ firstly, I love the chemistry that has been brewing between Rose and Dmitri from the start of this book. It sizzles!
Next, I am really enjoying the way Lissa's character is spanning out... Like, we can't trust her. We can't be sure that she'll be good all the time because of the dark vibes that Rose gets from her.
And I am sooo intrigued as to who is behind all the dead animals and irking Lissa! (hide spoiler)]

I think I'm going to finish the book today

Okay! This is a conspiracy theory about who is doing all the bad things - (view spoiler)[I think Natalie is doing it and she's in it with Victor. I think they're doing it so that they can sort of check if Lissa can use her powers to heal Victor... (hide spoiler)]

Okay so.... I finished the book! 😅
And I really enjoyed it. The ending was really cool and I feel it has laid out some good ground work for the next books in the series...
I'd definitely pick them up too.

I felt like this! I'm glad that I wasn't the only one!! This was so much more complex that I thought this would be and the beginning felt a bit info-dump

Totally a trigger moment for me

Chapter 16
(view spoiler)[It was quite clear from early chapters that there was something peculiar with Lissa and now we know. We'll see how it goes with her if she keeps going those things even though she promised not to use her abilities anymore. But I'm not sure if she stop using them. And it's still unclear who is against her. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I thought this would have been a mit more steamy but at the same time I love how little romance this book had. There is so many books that have too much that and too little something else. This felt the first book in the series, I got a feeling that this wasn't so perfect as an individual book but felt more like the beginning of bigger things to happen later. But I liked this still! ikr!! It gives the impression that this is ground work for better story and trust me, the story and its intricacies do get better in further books

I've read the first 4 chapters

(view spoiler)[I like Rose, not sure yet about Lissa. Lissa is a bit more aloof. We will probably get to know her better later on.
Staying at the academy sounds like the right move, since Rose is far behind with training.
I wonder how much everyday life for the vampires is similar to the way humans live. Going to school sounds similar. The "accident" that is mentioned sounds like a car crash, so I am thinking they use cars as well. I'm hoping for some more world building.
It's interesting there are vampires who are alive those who are that.
We are not noticing much yet about the threat that made them leave the academy 2 years ago. I wonder what it was. (hide spoiler)]

I just finished chapter 8

There is some more world building, but I am still wondering what adult vampires do. It sounds like working with/for humans is looked down on. (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

I finished it! It's a quick and enjoyable read, though I didn't love it. Still nice though.

There was potential for a romance. I think it's a shame it was stopped. Maybe later in the series Dimitri and Rose get together? But that means not both of them can stay and guard Lissa. (hide spoiler)]

Finished this book. It's so easy to read. I feel this is the best book on Vampires compared to some other Vampire books out there.
I gave it five stars 5 years back but now it's only a four for me.

What's your favourite Vampire series/book?
