Because of her past, she has her guard up.
she's predatory and destructive is just the tip of the iceberg. On top of that, she's also opportunistic, miserable, and extreme, but they're not as prominent and counteracted by habits of being fun-loving as well.
But focus on her as this is what she's most condemned. Even the best intentions have been soured because of this and her pedantic nature, which is unfortunate in and of itself.
she's responsive and orderly. Of course, she's also captivating, passionate, and imaginative, but in smaller doses and they're often spoiled by habits of being desperate as well.
Her responsiveness though is what she's pretty much known for. Friends frequently count on this and her independence in times of need. she's miserable and opportunistic is just the tip of the iceberg. To make matters worse she's also hostile, cold, and pedantic, but in an odd way, they're balanced by habits of being responsive as well.
But focus on her as this is what she's often despised. Multiple nights have ended in disaster because of this and her maliciousness, but there's not much you can really do about it.

She was born to David Vera and Sarah Bradbury, She was a mummy girl until her mum died when she was four. Her dad visited her mum for the last time and made a promise that break for a year. When she turned five, that's when the verbal abuse started. She tried asking for help but no one would. When she was ten the verbal abuse got more personal and physical abuse was thrown into the mix. He wouldn't let her out of the house, she was homeschooled until third grade. She was told to hide the bruises so no one would ask questions. The older she got the more harder he would hit, she has scars everywhere. When she was in fifth grade she fell into depression and was diagnosed with Anxiety, she would also self-harm herself. She got a letter from the school, She left in the middle of the night and came to the school. She has trust issues because of what happened during her childhood.

Cam is a smol bean who isn’t interested in friends. Or acquaintances. Or just conversation in general. At an intimidating height of 4’11”, they can often be found in their natural habitat: the corner of a room. Cam spends a good chunk of their time observing and silently judging people, finding flaws and other annoyances. They do it so frequently that sometimes they do it subconsciously as a force of habit.
If only Cam paid as much attention as they do to everyone else to themself. They rarely ever get enough sleep, closing their eyes only to be jolted awake be a nightmare. And though they should probably go back to sleep, after a nightmare, all Cam can do is run. Away from the demons haunting their sleep. They cover up their insecurities and problems with heavy steel walls of sarcasm and snark and try to put oceans between them and other humans.

Cam spent six years of their life in an orphanage. They don’t remember it all that much, although part of that is refusal to remember. They were content with their new life, and they didn’t want to think about the time before. Sometimes Cam has vivid dreams of times spent at the orphanage and even after waking up, can’t tell if it was just a nightmare or some deeply buried memory.
Despite that and their dislike of socialization, Cam had stellar grades in school. They rarely ever got below a B,

Appearance: Rowan’s appearance is generally clean and neat, though with a few exceptions. He keeps his thick, orange-red hair combed and slicked back, but since it is especially unruly, there is a strand or two that escapes the rest and hangs in his face more often than not. He doesn’t mind this too badly as long as it doesn’t majorly obstruct his vision. He stands at roughly 5’9, and while he slouched in effort to become invisible or unnoticed at one point in time, he now holds himself perfectly straight with impeccable posture, having since learned the benefits and detriments of bad posture. The most handsome aspect of his appearance is his eyes, and it is one of the only physical traits he receives compliments on. They are wide, shining, and bright emerald in color, and they display immense solemnity and seriousness. His skin is nearly sheet white; blue-green and purple veins are clearly visible on the undersides of his forearms and in a few other places. A couple of freckles appear very faintly on his cheeks and nose, and he has a small birthmark in the vague shape of a lightning bolt on the back of his left shoulder. His facial features are fine albeit bony. Long, ebony lashes frame his eyes, and light ginger eyebrows arch slightly over. He has high, sharp cheekbones, a small nose, moderately broad forehead, slightly pointed chin, delicate ears, and thin lips that never seem to contain much color. His neck is slender and elongated to just the right degree, and his build is lean and lanky, almost too lean. He is clearly an exceptionally bony individual, though less so in the face as compared to the rest of his body. His spine protrudes a little from his back, and most of his ribs are visible in the absence of any items of clothing covering them. He possesses large hands with slender, gentle fingers and narrow feet with neatly trimmed toenails. His fingernails are often uneven or ragged from being habitually chewed on in frustration, nervousness, or boredom. His usual expression is a thoughtful or worried frown, and he has no laugh lines.
Normally, Rowan wears casual clothing, namely blue jeans and simple, button-down shirts. He will never be seen wearing shorts, sweatpants, sandals, or polo shirts, though he will wear T-shirts on occasion if he is in the privacy of his own home. For messy experiments or certain things that need doing around the house like a paint job or gardening, he dons ripped jeans, old shirts, and worn sneakers. In winter or cold weather, he wears sweaters, long-sleeved shirts, leather jackets, scarves, fur coats, or boots, but he will also wear flannel if he is staying in. For some reason, he owns a lot of plaid flannel in his closet. For occasions that require him to dress up, he wears suits or vests with gold or emerald accents to complement what little looks he possesses, silk ties or bowties, and dress shoes. Sometimes he will add a pocket watch he inherited from his grandfather to his outfit as well. He shies away from clothing that is white or certain shades of yellow that make him look paler than he already is. He owns several pairs of glasses as he is always losing them, but he uses them only for reading because he has strained his eyes by reading for excessive amounts at a time and in the dark far too often.
Personality: Rowan is the quiet, studious Darkwoode sibling. Almost every second of his spare time is spent reading textbooks or drawing up experiments, and he reads nonfictional materials almost exclusively as he finds little use for fiction and pleasure reading. He is most skilled in philosophy, physics, and botany, but any field of science and any branch of math comes easily to him as well. In his opinion, the English language is stupid, and everyone should just go back to speaking Latin, which makes much more sense. He’s read the entirety of Newton’s Principia as it was originally written in Latin multiple times over the years, and sometimes he writes notes, assignments, and papers in Latin first and then later translates them before turning them in to the teachers. If he is alone, he reasons things out loud when he can’t quite grasp something just by reading, but usually this is done in Latin as well. Because of his excessive use of it, the way he phrases sentences when speaking normally is a little unusual and takes some getting used to since in English most people do not place the verbs dead last when talking or writing. However, he does have a unique perspective on things as a result and does not often waste time with meaningless words. He firmly believes that if there is nothing useful to say, silence is better than pointless time-filler.
He does not always have his nose stuck in a book, which is a common misconception other people have had about him. Oftentimes he can be found performing some experiment on the academy grounds or further out off campus, and these can vary within a wide range of classifications. Sometimes he repeats famous experiments from history or science textbooks, but just as frequently, he designs his own. Most of his experiments relate to physics or botany, and in the past he has been chewed out for damaging some of the flowers and other plants in the garden. Over the years he’s gotten more precise with his experimental procedures and hasn’t accidentally killed any plants or almost electrocuted himself in a long while. The teachers, staff, and some others have told him time and time again to do things in the classroom under supervision with proper equipment, but Rowan highly prefers to do things on his own time in his own way. Making his own tools is half the fun, and anything he doesn’t know how to create, he can learn from the library or the internet.
Science is not the only thing he experiments with. He can and will apply the scientific method to just about anything (which is probably why he isn’t great at social interaction) and has used it many times previously in situations where it isn’t the most appropriate response or not particularly useful since it is his default way of analyzing things around him. He is such a logical and rational thinker to the point that social cues and unspoken rules evade him. Over time he’s gotten slightly better at interacting with others and knows most of the polite responses to casual small talk, though he finds it frustrating and incomprehensible. Consequently, he tries to avoid it at all costs and rarely talks to other people unless they can answer one of his questions or he’s carrying out some type of survey or something. He doesn’t mind conversations with other people if the topic is something of interest to him and if the other person can think clearly and logically and can follow his premises and conclusions, but he does not do well in discussions with multiple people at once and can only handle conversation well with one person at a time. He is not good at masking his emotions and is a terrible liar, and so he will avoid telling lies as much as possible since he also has a nearly impossible time remembering any lies he tells.
Rowan is a sensitive and thoughtful person. He doesn’t always know how to tell someone directly that they are important to him, but he definitely has a kind way of showing it. When he cares for someone (family or a close friend), he demonstrates it by performing acts of service and being as helpful as possible. While he is not adept at comforting words when someone close is upset, he does his best to be supportive and uses his analytical prowess to find possible solutions to whatever problems his friends and family may be facing. For birthdays and special occasions, he takes a break from his studying and favorite pursuits to make homemade gifts, since in his opinion homemade presents are more special and meaningful, and though he does not like any sort of parties or social events, he will bear them as long as possible if it will make his family or friends happier. However, he usually does not last the entire time and has to recuse himself back to the library or somewhere quiet outside the party. While he is kind and clever, he is not particularly brave, preferring to hide in his room or somewhere on the school grounds than face his fears or things that cause him to feel stressed or awkward. For family and close friends, he puts up with situations that make him uncomfortable for as long as he can, but if anyone else were to ask, the answer would be a firm no.

Appearance: Ajax has shaggy, black-brown hair that is usually unkempt and reaches down to a little past his chin. He sometimes smooths it all back into a small braid when he feels like it, but usually he just lets it do whatever it wants. His eyes are a murky black with a few gold flecks near the pupils, and sometimes you can see shadows dancing in his eyes. Whenever he's gotten worked up into a real fury, these shadows appear to blot out every speck of brown in his irises entirely. His height is about 5’10 and a half, and he has a strong, muscular build. He has well-muscled arms, abs, and legs and has large hands and feet as well. His skin is evenly tanned, and he almost has a more ruddy complexion, his skin actually being closer in tone to olive though. He’s a bit more stockily built with lean, muscular legs and a proportional torso and legs. His bottom lip is slightly bigger than his top one, and he has high cheekbones and sharp facial features. He also has a slightly chiseled jaw and long, dark eyelashes that any girl would envy. Most of his skin is rough and calloused, but the skin on his face and lower back is actually very soft and gentle, like running your fingers through the silky fur of a cat. However, he does have a bit of stubble around his chin, and he normally only shaves it when it gets bad. His body is marred with scars all over, especially on his upper back, chest, abs, and shoulders. He has a small scar above his left eyebrow and another one near the right corner of his mouth. Two, large scars crisscross on his back, and a multitude of shorter ones reside in the skin over his abs and stomach. In flowing script, he has the phrase ‘Semper Fi’ (always faithful) tattooed on the inside of his right forearm, and the word ‘Umbra’ tattooed in cursive on his lower back. His third tattoo is a black lightning bolt on the back of his left shoulder, and his fourth and last tattoo is a crescent moon on the back of his right shoulder with the words ‘Lunae lumen’ (moonlight) in gorgeous script beneath the tattoo.
Ajax much prefers to wear comfy and maneuverable clothing, his favorites being sweatpants and loose T-shirts or tank tops that show off his well-muscled arms, since he can be a bit of a show-off. His favorite shirt is a worn, gray T-shirt that looks more than a little rag-tag with patches of different cloths mending the parts where holes have been ripped in it and a blue and gray plaid, flannel shirt over it that also looks a little worn with mismatched and missing buttons on the front. He usually wears either tennis shoes or a heavy pair of black combat boots with gray fur linings and brass buckles with his outfits. He also has his left ear pierced and always wears a small, silver hoop earring through it. The only other pieces of jewelry he wears are a silver band ring with little onyxes set into it around his right middle finger, a silver chain around his neck with a gold dream-catcher charm with blue, black, gold, and gray feathers, and black skull ring on his left index finger.

Appearance: Chloe has tangled, thick, jet black hair to her waist that she normally keeps in a high ponytail or messy braid since her mass of hair is too much of a hassle to brush out on a daily basis, and big, dark green eyes with small, gray flecks dotted throughout her irises. Her full height is only roughly 5’5 and a half at best and a source of constant jokes and jabs from others. Her raven locks, combined with her unusually pale skin, give her an almost eerie look, although her skin does tan very slightly during the summertime. She possesses a lean figure with a torso of medium length and legs slightly longer, and she is moderately curvy. Although she is short and slim, that doesn’t mean she lacks muscle. Her calves, abs, and arms in particular have a quite a substantial bit of muscle, and the rest of her is pretty fit as well. Her hands and feet are rather small, even for her height and size, and she has slim shoulders. Though they aren’t broad or especially big, her shoulders still have a nice bit of muscle to them, as do the rest of her arms. Her fingernails are always short and rough, since she bites them down until her fingers bleed, and the skin on her hands and feet is littered with blister marks, bruised toenails, callouses, and lots of rough, dry skin. She also possesses too many scars, burns, and other markings on her body to count, but one of the most obvious ones is a long, pale scar running vertically down the left side of her face. It starts at the outside of her left eyebrow and makes a slightly, outward curved line down to the left corner of her mouth. Her forearms have several, long scars, some inflicted by others and some by her own hand.
Since she can’t stand dresses or anything girly, she is usually seen wearing ripped up pants and a plain shirt or tank top. She almost never goes anywhere without her pair of beat-up boots, though they are falling apart and are barely being held together by strips of filthy, white cloth. She owns no jewelry (not that she’d ever wear any even if she did have some), and her idea of dressy clothing is a pair of pants with few rips, a clean top, and a black leather belt. In addition to owning no jewelry, she also has zero makeup, and even if she did, she would probably never put it on, since it would be too much of a hassle for her. Both her ears have been pierced before, but she only very rarely wears one of two small, silver hoops that she owns through her left ear. Since she bites her nails so much, she never paints them, although she doesn’t have any polish to paint them with in the first place either.

Aspen is mature, if anything. He has no trouble handling intense situations and overwhelming emotions. Or so it seems. He can keep a level head and is usually very emotionally neutral. Aspen thinks with his head, and absolutely ignores his feelings. Aspen is quiet and thoughtful, prefers to observe rather than talk, but don't mistake his silence for shyness. He isn't afraid to speak he mind, but prefers to stay quiet to seem much more intelligent. Aspen has some impressive impulse control, and can take control of almost any situation. He has this sort of.. calming aura around him, maybe it's his monotone voice or the fact that he always seems to know just what to say. He tends to have a large circle of friends, but can seem distant and far away. Aspen has no problem fitting in, but only because he can hide as someone he isn't.
Aspen is cautious and calm and seems to make the best decisions without a problem. Inside he's someone who cannot cope with his feelings and struggles with everything. He is very sensitive and insecure. He's made himself into who he wants to be, but not who he truly is. He's learned to be able to keep a neutral face and has almost complete control over his body language. Aspen is frighteningly hard to read and decipher, and can come off as cold sometimes, but he's quick to help others. Everything seems to bounce off of him, but he can't help but let those words sink in. He's outwardly mature and serene, and is often mistaken for an adult, despite his age. Aspen is far more fragile than he comes off to be, and is one who needs to be handled like a fragile rose otherwise he'll shrivel up and fall apart. Usually, he's the only one there to nurture himself back to working order.
Aspen can be very monotone and almost superficial at time, which might seem unnerving. He can be scary if he tries, but usually he appears non-threatening and unimportant. This is only because Aspen hates attention, but because his compliance to attend events and a large circle of friends, he now has severe anxiety and he tends to overthink it all. Aspen, inwards, is a nerdy, emotional person, but forced himself to be someone else. The Aspen you see, isn't who he is inside, but he's incredibly hard and controlling on himself and has only forced himself into a groove he sees as perfect. Except he still don't like who he's made himself out to be.

Understand that soon you'll run with better menBy the age of five, Aspen was well acquainted with death and the dark. He'd lost his mother to her own hands and his father to a drunken car crash. Living with his elder brother, he'd find himself stuck in his room while his brother held parties in the house. They barely had enough money to scrape by and Aspen still hadn't started school. By 7, CPS finally took Aspen away and he found a foster home and managed to start school. Even though he missed 2 years, Aspen stayed at the top of his class. He'd moved around a lot, and when he was in 4th grade, that's when he started to change.
He'd encountered several people and found that a lot of people didn't like him, he'd be verbally bullied by kids around him. It got to a point where, when in 5th grade, a group of boys jumped him on his way home and burned off several ares of his skin with lighters. It was painful, and all he remembers was how afraid and lost he felt. In 6th grade he'd changed himself completely. Aspen was now a lot more secluded and more mature, haunted by those who'd hurt him in the past. He still found himself getting into fights all because he was intelligent, and started to defend himself. Aspen sprinted after Hailee, she'd left her bike just before the bridge started. He saw her standing on the railing, wobbling dangerously. She turned and smiled at him, tears streaming from her face. "I love you." She had said before stepping off. Aspen screamed with horror, feeling himself start to cry. Leaning over the the edge of the bridge, watching her body disappear into the cold, dark water broke him. The next day, when he woke up, he felt numb and couldn't process what had happened. Aspen has a pale, hollow face. His eyes sunken in their sockets and his cheekbones high and prominent. He speaks with a fairly heavy English accent. Aspen's eyes are a strikingly neon blue, but are ringed with dark bags under them. Aspen is incredibly tall for his age, standing at roughly 5'7 and 124 lbs. He has coarse, dark brown hair; his hands are rough and very masculine, with tendons and veins poking out everywhere. Aspen is skinny, almost malnourished.
Outside of school hours, Aspen generally wears sweatpants and a hoodie, no matter the weather and no matter the time of day.

Clay is a lot to handle, he's painted as someone who's actively violent and starts problems at any chance he gets. Clay has never denied these allegations and often feeds into them, throwing punches when others are looking for a fight and starting arguments when he catches someone talking shit about him. Clay is physically strong, with a toned build, and has a lot of confidence. This causes Clay to care less about what other people say and more or less likes to make those rumors of him bigger. He likes the attention people pay to the him they've created and the shock on peoples' faces when they realize all of that is bullshit.
Clay is sweet, to those he's close to. He is understanding, and intelligent, and he acts a lot like a big puppy to his close friends. He is very energetic and thoughtful, caring, but impulsive. Clay has never cared what others think of him and can be quite cocky at times, though he puts up a front to those who don't know him too well just to throw them off if they ever see the real side of him. Clay's never bothered hiding who he is when someone catches him with his friends, and he laughs to himself when he sees their reactions to how he actually is (which some have described as "golden retriever energy").Pop some shit then fall behind

Moving like a poltergeistClay was a bit of a "problem child", he defied his parents no matter what and would often fight with his older siblings, and eventually, his younger ones. Clay always didn't do good in school, though whenever he'd fall behind, or get a bad grade, his parents would have him sit at the table for hours until it was his bedtime, doing late assignments or studying for the things he had gotten bad grades on.
He was never forced to stay there past nine P.M. when he was in Elementary, and eventually got the hang of staying ahead of his assignments and in school. When Clay started attending Oleander Academy, he'd acted out a bit, testing his limits but the threat of being kicked from the school if he fell behind or acted up made him keep to the lesser problematic behavior.
Clay has always kept to himself, with a few close friends he's very attached to and an uneasy relationship with a majority of his peer (especially the Orchid House students).I'm like, "Wait, what's his name?"

Devon is a manipulative, power-hungry teenager. He's quiet.. so quiet. He never found a reason to talk unless it's to get what he wants. Inside he's just the same, if no worse. Violent, hot-headed, ill-tempered, impulsive. But beneath it all.. all of his hate and reclusivness, is something you could call fierce love. He has such a strong passion for baking. That's what has saved him. It's kept him from going homicidal. Some may call him a sociopath, to others he's straight-up psychotic. Why? It seems like everyday he's constantly getting into fights, testing just how many people he can fight at once. Always pissing someone else off with his snarky remarks and judgmental observations. Devon absolutely enjoys tearing down peoples self-esteem, just to feed his own ego. Despite how stupid it may seem for him to get into fights so often at such a prestigious academy, he's still very intelligent. Almost always at the top of his class, seemingly without trying.

Devon flinched, ducking his head as fat knuckles connected with his spine. The small, weak boy twisted and stabbed the man with a wooden rod.
