Now for this group - this isn't a big deal. Critterbee & I only send out a block message once a year. But now only people on the friend list of the moderator who sends it would get it. I haven't talked to Critterbee about this yet, but maybe we will do an end of the year summary & post it here. But some of you may be a member of a group that sends out regular messages.
& now for the change that is really frosting my flakes. Some (not all members) are finding they can now only post Goodreads links. Like https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Edit: it looks like Goodreads has changed this back after no doubt receiving many angry messages about this. I hhave just checked three different sites & was able to post the links.

I'm not friends of these mods, but I did change my setting for who can PM me back to anyone on GR when I found they'd made a blanket change to 'friends only'. So, maybe that's what members may have to do?
Thanks for reporting on these issues, Carol! I got a notice in another group about the “Friends only” issue and went in and changed it back. Now if I could only fix my other Goodreads issues!
Dunno. If anyone has a question with their friend request, I can test it for them if they want. :)They can send me a message - hopefully!
Thank you for keeping us updated!I was having trouble with links, and am glad to hear that they have fixed that!

I noticed that and got around it by just posting the link and not the html code around it.

Now we come on to things that do affect many of us.
Without telling members, Goodreads has changed a profile setting. If you had
Who Can Send Me Private Messages: set to anyone, Goodreads changed it to just my friends. You can change it back to anyone. I have done so so that members of this group can get hold of me.
On Help someone has posted that she is trying to friend someone who has a question. Goodreads has removed the option to add a message, which means she can't reply - & she can't send a request without answering the question! If you have a question I don't know if you can remove it. I found the question a waste of time. Instead on my profile I have put something that I expect requesters to read. This weeds out the friend collectors.
