I read this in the last 5 years. She dates the second to oldest son (his name was Alex) and plays hard to get with the oldest son

What caused the car crash, and where did it occur? Was the girl in the accident?
What is the story's time period and location?
The family loved in NYC in modern day but after the death she moved to the country. The main character was home sick when her mom dad abs sister all died in the crash.
