I'm in too. Going to read Mistress of Mellyn and Whatever Happened to Baby Jane. I just bought a second hand copy of Mistress and Baby Jane has been waiting on my Kindle for a couple of years. Both first published around 1960. Mistress kick started the 1960s Gothic fiction revival and Baby Jane was turned into a movie with Joan Crawford and Bette Davis. I loved the movie so am hoping to enjoy the book.
Count me in!! I plan to read:

Update Oct 31 @ 4:30 pm: Swapped out Many Bloody Returns with finishing The Stand - completed
Hallowe'en Party - 50% read
Update Oct 31 @ 11:00 pm: Hallowe'en Party - complete!
I'm in!!Don't know what I'm going to read though.
Maybe I'll start rereading the Harry Potter series.
Already Friday here and I'm halfway through Mistress of Mellyn. It's Rebecca and Jane Eyre in a blender, but cleverly plotted so that it doesn't follow either one too closely. Planning to continue the readathon on my way to work!
I started reading a view hours ago. I am still at my current read The Good Samaritan by John Marrs and its sooo addictive that I decided to finish it first before I continue with Something Wicked This Way Comes.I am very excited for this weekend!
Jane, I am so excited too! I started reading for this challenge on a 5-min break at work this am, which is when I realized how excited I was :)
I'm just going to update my original post with what I'm reading and the number of pages.
*kim
Happy to hear that, Kim :) I will also start to edit my first post with my progress, but a little later probably.Just finished The Good Samaritan. A really captivating thriller. I think I will take a little break now and write a review later.
I can't seem to edit my posts on my tablet so I'll just post another update! Mistress of Mellyn is finished and reviewed. I enjoyed it and I'm glad I ticked it off the list, but Victoria Holt's writing always reads a bit flatly to me. Moving on to Whatever Happened To Baby Jane, so I'm staying with the mid-century Gothic theme.
I finished Dante’s Inferno this morning (The Divine Comedy is a current slow read!). I’m about halfway through Carrie.
@Alison: Im looking forward to read what you think of Helter Skelter. I have it on my TBR for years but no motivation to pick it up yet.
10/30/21 Just reading what on's my Currently Reading list, my current book is
I may also continue
which was from Rory's list. 10/31/21 Finished American as Paneer Pie and read from A Clockwork Orangeyesterday, started
and
.
I started to listen to 2 hours of the audio book of Frankenstein: The 1818 Text by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley and I sadly have to say that I will DNF it, it is just not enjoyable for me at all. Next I will continue with Something Wicked This Way Comes
Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? was fabulous, I raced through it even though I knew most of the plot, having seen the movie which is very close to the book. Haven't quite finished because this edition includes three short stories - bonus!
There is no way I’m finishing Helter Skelter tonight! Next time I try to do a readathon I’m booking a hotel room.

I'm SO bummed I missed this. Work and life were hella busy though. I was hoping to read Carrie in October and failed lol.Happy to see everyone else getting closer to reaching your book goals!
Sadly I did not get around to finish another book. But I still had fun. Thank you to everyone that participated! :)

Regarding the time, you can start/finish anytime during the weekend. Read all night or day, however you prefer it. This thread is just to do it together, get motivation and read as much as possible 😊
Post below if you want to participate. You can update your initial post with your progress or post a new update every few hours.
What are you planning to read? Any spooky book recommendations from the Rory list?
