The book The Polar Express is the fantasy picture book I chose. In the book a little boy wakes up in the middle of night and goes outside to see a train in front of his house. He found a ticket in his pocket and decided to board the train, where he met some friends. Throughout the book, they run into problems and have to work together and they meet Santa and the elves along the way. Like we’ve been learning in class, this story has a very clear Hero’s Journey. You can really tell the call to adventure, entering the unknown, the road of trials, and the return home in the story.
This book has been in my life ever since I was a little kid, it’s one of my favorites. I enjoy the movie a lot too. One of my most fond memories as a child was going to the Polar Express every winter in Flagstaff. This book is an amazing book to help grow a child’s imagination and it’s just a fun read in general.
Rating:5/5
