Just one of the 5. I would have worded it "read the first book in a series with 5 books" if that was the requirement.
Has anyone gophered books for Collect, Collector or Collection?? Having a hard time finding something I want to read for this one.
Dawn - The only thing I came up with is The Perfume Collector. It has a woman in a red coat and red heels on the cover. It is set in London and Paris according to my book list for books that I own and that I keep notes on. I didn’t look any farther.
Dawn wrote: "Has anyone gophered books for Collect, Collector or Collection?? Having a hard time finding something I want to read for this one."I think I'll read a middle grade book that my library has - The Collectors.
Dawn wrote: "Has anyone gophered books for Collect, Collector or Collection?? Having a hard time finding something I want to read for this one."I've had The Bone Collector on my wishlist for a while. I remember the movie and have wanted to read the book ever since, just never got to it.
I just found a fewThe Bone Collection: Four Novellas
A Novella Collection
The Last Collection: A Novel of Elsa Schiaparelli and Coco Chanel
With the series of 5, does it have to be a completed series (quintet)? Or is a series allowed with only 5 published at present but maybe with more to come.
I think as long as there are only 5 published, it's fine. No matter how many are still planned. I think there's something about this in the general challenge rules but I'm not sure. Be careful though! Last year I saved such a series task for the end of the year, but by that time another book had been published so I couldn't use the book I planned for it anymore :(
I thought I had written it into the rules, but I guess I missed it. We count only the published books. Peggy is absolutely correct about the caution.
Thanks, Janice. I am thinking about Dishonour and Obey, third book in a series of 5. Other series I have started seem to have either less books or more.
So far, it doesn't have any placeholders for a 6th book. I see I have the first book on my wishlist.
Cathy Ace was born and raised in Wales, but migrated to Vancouver where she now lives. Could she be considered a Canadian Author? She is the chairperson of Crime Writers of Canada if that helps :)

1. Location: Read a book with a theme of immigrant experience.
Would ay of the following books work for this task?
1. The Orphan Collector
2. A Bride Most Begrudging
Thanks.

Viji - it's obvious from the book blurbs that they would. You don't need to ask for rulings on something so obvious.

I was not sure what exactly is needed for this task - especially in the case of historical fiction. Thanks, for the help.
Why would historical fiction present a problem? If the story is about an immigrant and their experiences as a result of immigration, it doesn't matter the genre.

Oops, I just now noticed that I have posted my query in the wrong site. This should have been posted in Site 6, Poppy Memorial, Parc des Pionniers, Baie-Comeau, Quebec, Canada. It is an inadvertent mistake. I apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Is Jo Walton author of The Just City considered to be an Canadian author. She was born in Wales and moved to Canada in 2001.
Anyone have thoughts for a good series of five works? Something you'd like to recommend? I'm thinking about using this for my 2nd badge, but the series I was planning to use has a 6th book coming out in August and I don't think I'll be ready for this one before that publishes. All of my current top series have more or less books in the series.
I don't read too much sci-fi or fantasy, though I'm not opposed to it so it's not a deal breaker if it's good. I tend to read a lot more in the mystery/thriller and historical fiction genres.
I was about to come recommend the Truly Devious series as I am three books into that one and it is an engaging YA mystery series, but (to my chagrin for my own reading plans as well) the 5th book won't be published until later this year :(The only other 5 book series I have in my tracking notebook are the Mary Stewart Arthurian series which starts with The Crystal Cave - which reads more like an historical fiction with slight bits of magic than a true fantasy but is also kinda long if it's not up your alley. Or there is a YA series that is a pleasant enough quick read series called The Ascendance by Jennifer A. Nielsen which starts with The False Prince. It's nothing life changing or anything, but was enjoyable enough that I continued the series.

There is Scotland Yard's Murder Squad I haven't read them all, but they're quite enjoyable if you like historical mysteries.
Did you finish Stillhouse Lake? I read the first book of that series for that task.
There is Artifact Hunters but it's more romance than anything in my opinion. But it's got a bit of steampunk in it. I've read a couple of them but would like to continue the series.
Odette wrote: "Is Jo Walton author of The Just City considered to be an Canadian author. She was born in Wales and moved to Canada in 2001."I confirm Peggy's comment.
If you want to do stillhouse lake Kristie make sure and do it soon as it will only be a 5 book series for about another month! I am going to add that one to my TBR.
Kristie wrote: "Anyone have thoughts for a good series of five works? Something you'd like to recommend?"I'll probably read one of Charlaine Harris' Lily Bard mysteries (book #1 Shakespeare's Landlord), or one of Jessica Day George's Castle Glower childrens fantasy/adventure (book #1 Tuesdays at the Castle) books for this task.
Katrisa wrote: "If you want to do stillhouse lake Kristie make sure and do it soon as it will only be a 5 book series for about another month! I am going to add that one to my TBR."What? There are going to be more books? I thought that was the end of the series when she died.
According to GR there is one more book coming out in August that has a second author listed. I just finished a good mystery/thriller series so I'm looking for a new one.
Katrisa wrote: "I was about to come recommend the Truly Devious series as I am three books into that one and it is an engaging YA mystery series, but (to my chagrin for my own reading plans as well) the 5th book won't be published until later this year :( ..."I thought this might actually work in my favor because I need to finish the badge I'm working on first, so waiting to read this last could work out. But, then I checked on the date and its expected publication is Dec 27th, which is cutting it too close for me. Bummer!
Yup, looks like the next one is Trapper Road authored by Rachel Caine & Carrie Ryan. Interestingly, the publisher is listed as Rachel Caine, LLC.. I guess Ryan will be taking over the series.
I have both Scotland Yard's Murder Squad and Artifact Hunters on my TBR. It looks like Artifact Hunters has 6 works though. I may start with The Yard. I didn't know that was a 5 book series. :) I'm going to look into the other suggestions too though. Thank you all!
Oh, hey Kristie I just realized that Dean Koontz's Frankenstein series is a 5 book series. I know you just bought over of those
Kristie wrote: "Yup, looks like the next one is Trapper Road authored by Rachel Caine & Carrie Ryan. Interestingly, the publisher is listed as Rachel Caine, LLC.. I guess Ryan will be taking over t..."I think I will quit after the 5th book. I have them all.
If you went with Stillhouse Lake series for this task, you'd need to read it this month since the 6th book will be published Aug 2.

Obviously I didn't catch Arifact Hunters for 2 years since book 6 was published in 2020.
