What a nasty thing to do? I am surprised that no one in the family knew. They have so many ties to people in the community; it is hard to believe no one told them. Anyway, they have to petition a name change or do something that removed Danelle's name. Maybe dedicate the park to all children who died to soon.
Agree with Sharon, really nasty. I find it hard to believe they didn't know the park had been renamed. I also agree the need to rename it and remove any touch by Danielle.
Keeping it in his name would be a reminder of Danielle, not Justin. Every time they’d visit it would be a horrible reminder. They need to do more than rename it. They should turn it into something else.
Isn’t it remarkable that Lucy’s memories came flooding back when she went there? How ironic that Danielle had a hand in helping Lucy defeat her.

I don't want to see the park repurposed. It was a special place for Justin and Lucy. I could see Lucy standing between the trees and reliving the good times she had with Justin. That was a powerful part in the book for me. It will always be a hard place for the Kincaids, especially Lucy's mom who took them to play there.
I can't imagine that the family didn't ask where the funding for the park came from. Did they believe that Andrew had given the money in his son's name? Who did Andrew think funded it? I can see them deciding to make some changes since Danielle is the person who made the park happen. I just don't know what exactly they will change.
Maybe they could donate a like amount to a very good charity (to remove the association with Danielle)? I also like to think that they will be able to find those positive recollections of Lucy and Justin in the park as youngsters.
