For the souvenir task: Would you count a knife as a hunting implement--definitely need it to dress the kill and could also be thrown or used to stab fish in water?
Beth wrote: "For the souvenir task: Would you count a knife as a hunting implement--definitely need it to dress the kill and could also be thrown or used to stab fish in water?"It doesn't say that knives are excluded, so go ahead. :)

Good plan, Katrisa. I am going to read Blindness for the dystopian pandemic task.

Need help with the task:1. Location:
Read a book about Australian indigenous people.
Book suggestions or Listopia links for this would be helpful. Thanks.
Viji, you can easily search for yourself. On the main page, go to browse, then lists, and use the search function. I entered 'australian indigenous' and got several lists that look promising. Make sure to always read the blurbs though, as sometimes books are put on lists that don't belong. https://www.goodreads.com/search?utf8...
Also Viji, I would highly recommend Goggling as there are some amazing resources on this topic being discussed and built in Australia at the moment. We are working really hard to celebrate our amazing Indigenous writers (so many of them are slaying it in writing awards at the moment). And we are also spending a lot of time realising we non-Indigenous Australians still don't know a lot about our Indigenous peoples.
A quick google gives you a heap of reputable lists and suggestions, that unlike goodreads' lists, are much more likely to be fact checked and correct. I agree with Peggy though, up to you to read the blurb to be sure for anything you choose.
Thanks a lot, Peggy for the link. It is a great help. I tried with the key word Australian indigenous and also Australian Aboriginal but turned up with a list totally unconnected with it. Earlier, I had the same experience with a few searches. Sometimes, I do not get the results needed but after a month or so, I find there are quite a few lists answering to my search.

Thank you very much, Rusalka, for the help. It is a great suggestion. I am interested to know more about the Australian indigenous people. I always feel that the natives/indigenous people of any country had very rich culture and refined way of living than what we are facing now. It is nice that you are all now working hard to celebrate the contributions made by the indigenous people. It is a commendable effort.

That was good timing then for this task.

Hi Viji,
If this book is available to you, I highly recommend it.
This book started me off on some great Australia book reads. Follow the Rabbit-Proof Fence

Thanks, Cherie. I got
along with

in a book exhibition at Pondicherry a few years back for Indian Rs. 120/- I had totally forgotten about them. Thanks for reminding me. Unfortunately,
does not fit the page count norm for this challenge. I hope any one of the books by Larissa Behrendt would fit the task.

Don't worry about the typographical error, Rusalka. It happens to all. We could understand what you wanted to convey. I make many such mistakes, hahahaha!
Rusalka wrote: "I can't believe I typed goggling above and it's taken me 24 hours to notice. /sigh"Googling"!!"
I so almost called you out on that. lol I've made that exact same typo so many times. Still thought it was funny you were goggling something. :)
Viji wrote: "...Thanks for reminding me. Unfortunately, Follow the Rabbit-Proof Fence does not fit the page count norm for this challenge. Kristie wrote: "I so almost called you out on that. lol I've made that exact same typo so many times. Still thought it was funny you were goggling something. :)"Lol well aren't you polite! :P

Hopefully you can have a hunt through the blurbs and reviews and one fits the bill. I've been meaning to read something by her for a while now.
Viji wrote: "Don't worry about the typographical error, Rusalka. It happens to all. We could understand what you wanted to convey. I make many such mistakes, hahahaha!"Lol thanks Viji. It was more as I had edited the comment a few times from other typos, and missed the most obvious one! But very true, we all do it and most of the time people can work out what we mean.

Apparently not too polite. Could have just let it go, but was laughing too much at you calling yourself out.
I have no idea why it was so funny to me the first time. Just - oh, Rus is goggling something... must have been tired. lol

Glad to be in the same club!
Janice I am wondering about using Dune books for the 12+. The books that Herbert's son and Kevin J Anderson wrote come out in trilogies but are all part of an overarching series. Usually the individual books only have the trilogy listed but they are listed together on GR other places like https://www.goodreads.com/series/1061...
And it is not consistent which series is listed like Mentats of Dune is sometimes listed as Dune Universe #5 and sometime Schools of Dune #2
So can I use any of the Dune Universe books as part of a series of 12+?

Cool beans! I'm trying to fit as many as I can into the challenge because I want to read them all again this year!
3. Souvenir: Read a book with a hunting implement on the cover. Guns & swords are excluded
Would any one of the following covers fit this task?
1.
2.
I am not sure if the size of the weapons on the cover meet the requirement.
Viji, for the cover tasks, take a step back and look at them as if you hadn't seen it before. Like you were walking past it on a shelf in a book shop.Would you notice straight away there is (in this case) a knife or a spear on the covers?
Personally, the second cover the answer is an easy no to that question. The first took me quite a few looks (Lexx had to squint at the screen from 15cms), so that would be a no as well.
I find thinking like this helps a lot with these tasks and means you don't need to call for a ruling.

I need a ruling on this particular weapon. I'm thinking it classifies as a dagger, but I want to be sure before I pull it into my TBR. Graceling

I think it's a dagger as well, so yes, you may use it.
