Books!
Ooooh interesting. I might have to look into that one. I also loved The Hunger Games as it was such a unique look at what our society could eventually turn into.
On another note, I really hated Seeker by Arwen Elys Dayton. It was horrifying. I dnfed it three chapters in. If you want to understand how much I hated it, go read my review. XD

I loved reading Jurassic Park by Michael Cryton. It was super scary and tense. I thought my heart was going to leap out of my throat a couple times. I also read it at night which made everything creepier. I recommend reading it at night actually. As long as it doesn't scare you too much.
Oooooo I've been wanting to read it! I guess I'll have to schedule some 2 am quiet time...
Also AVA READ THE HUNGER GAMES SO WE CAN HAVE A THREE-WAY RANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just beware. Jurassic Park has a LOT of bad language, but the story was so good that I kinda just looked the other way.

@Denali. I hated 100 cupboards because it was soooook boring!!! Nothing happens for chapter after chapter, so I just stopped. I've tried reading it twice and both times I couldn't finish it.

Ughhh those books
Ughhh those books
I finally read all the Hunger Games and hated two of them. I liked the first one, because it was tense enough to keep me interested. The other two? If someone buys me a copy of either then I will introduce them my friends dog Ginger. Ginger destroys and eats EVERYTHING. Phones included. And cords I think. (Okay I would never do that to a book, but I really didn't like them).

Book wrote: "@Denali. I hated 100 cupboards because it was soooook boring!!! Nothing happens for chapter after chapter, so I just stopped. and I didnt really like the 3rd or the 4th book so I understand your POV
the third one made me cry too much and made me feel sad and a bit bored
and the 4th one was just painful to read
took me 1 1/2 months to read, while on average I finish a book in 2 days
Finnick :DIdk but I just love him so much
I love his compassion and how he and Katniss bond over the series

I really just found them annoying, confusing, and I didn't like the characters after book one. (The Hunger Games that is).
Well, I've tried reading It twice and both times nothing happened for chapter after chapter after chapter. It was so boring!!!!
Lilyyy wrote: "Book wrote: "@Denali. I hated 100 cupboards because it was sooooo boring!!! Nothing happens for chapter after chapter, so I just stopped. I've tried reading it twice and both times I couldn't fini..."Woah Woah Woah.
That does not describe 100 Cupboards at all. Picture this: a slow-paced novel with lots of wit and beautiful prose as well as an ever-growing, intriguing mystery. No, there aren't car chases or massive battles or explosions (in book one at least lol). There shouldn't be. This isn't a high fantasy book or a thriller, it's a middle-grade urban fantasy that is filled with magic and wonder and discovery (and there is a good fight at the end lol).
It has stakes that are certainly very high for the scope of the story.
If you like the Magician's Nephew, you will probably like 100 Cupboards.
The sequels are also amazing, and they do have epic battles and a lot more action - but, the series takes its time to grow into the world-threatening stakes and massive conflicts. Because it takes its time, when it gets to the major dramatic events of books 2 and 3, they have super solid foundations and are that much better.
Don't plan to read only book one. The series can't be read that way. It was written originally as one book but had to be split up because too massive. But think of this first book as only the very beginning of the story - the set-up, and you'll be able to enjoy it that much more.
The 100 Cupboards Series is incredible if you really give it a try.

Book wrote: "When I dislike something then yeah, I can get pretty passionate about it."same here, it can get scary
Just to be clear. We are all talking about the 100 Cupboards series by N. D. Wilson right? Cause that's what I am talking about.
Yeah, you should do it, Carsie! It's super good. And if it's not enough action for you, N.D. Wilson's other series, Ashtown Burials, is similar but has a LOT more action right off the bat.
Isabelle wrote: "Honest opinion on whether or not I should read the Ascendance series, anyone?"IS THAT EVEN A QUESTION?!?!?!? YES YOU SHOULD READ IT, IT'S ONLY LIKE THE BEST SERIES EVER!!!!!
ok, so maybe that came off a little strong... but you should sooooo read it

I'll take that as a yes
I've only read the first Hunger Games, but I love it! I've also been wanting to read 100 Cupboards for awhile now, and after reading Joseph's passionate description? I'm allll in. Especially since that's how I've learned I have to read LotR. I honestly hated it the first time I read it because 1. I only comprehended a quarter of what I read, and 2. it was so slow and I was waiting for all the epic battles and they never came, leastways not in the manner I expected them to. But if you read it like it's a journey and stop to appreciate the beautiful prose and the beautiful descriptions and the beautiful cover every other page, XD it's worth it.
~Snow Lily~ wrote: "I WANT TO READ The Hunger Games By Suzanne Collins"It's pretty good and basically the mother of all YA dystopia, definitely recommend
~Snow Lily~ wrote: "I also want to read Cinder by Marissa Meyer"I'm about halfway through that book, but I'm saving the rest for when I'm actually in a sci-fi kind of mood. It's good so far, though.
Carsie wrote: "Cinder is soOOOO GOOD. It doesn't actually seem like sci Fi to me, honestly. It's AMAZING. The rest of the series is amazing, and kinda better than the first book. CINDER IS SO COOL. I know it seem..."
maybe.

Everyone start throwing out books!!! The idea is just to be able to rant about books we've really enjoyed and be disappointed in books we've really hated.
I'm starting with Fierce Heart by Tara Grayce. I LOVE IT SOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!! It's literally so sweet and it made me melt and words cannot describe its wonderfulness!!!!! If you haven't read it, you should. Period.
