It was very interesting to read about how the librarians did everything possible to keep the library open during the occupation of Paris, and how they continued to try to do everything they could to ensure subscribers were still able to access books, even when Jewish subscribers could no longer use the library. It was interesting to read at the end of the book how much of it was based on real people and events. I was less interested in Lily’s story (the 1980s-part of the book), and I felt that her character was not as well developed. Even when reading this part of the book, I was more interested in Odile than Lily. Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and I look forward to seeing what else this author writes.

Amy | 13009 comments I also really enjoyed reading this one. I read it as a Giveaway I believe, so quite awhile ago. This is a book for people who also love books and libraries. She "gets" us. The story itself was so interesting to see the library's role.
