ARCHIVE Team Challenge: UNO 2022

UNO 2022 Pre Challenge Chat
Tips to prepare for sign up* Think about how many books you can read in a month.
There is no benefit in UNO to under-estimate because each team has a fixed number of books to read each month. It is best to be as accurate as you can so that your team doesn't finish the month early and then is bored for a week!. Have a look at what you read over the last 3 months, or for previous players what you read over last UNO.
* Do you want to be in a "chatty" team?
Consider your interaction on Goodreads. Do you want to log in at least every other day? If so you may want to select your preference for a "chatty team".
If you can only commit to checking the team once per week, a chatty team is not for you.
If you don't think you can make it onto Goodreads once per week (even if you haven't read anything) then UNO is not for you.
* Set up your UNO Shelf.
This helps your team captains check your books, and is also quite cool later when you want to see what you have read in UNO over the years. Goodreads help explains how to add a new shelf if you haven't done it before here
YOUR USER NAME IS VERY IMPORTANT
every year we have sign-ups that don't get this right. If you do not enter it correctly, we can not find you, which means you won't be placed on a team.
To find your user name:,
1. go to the desktop version of Goodreads. This means use a web browser on your tablet/phone/computer to go to www.goodeads.com
2. (sign in if required) Look at the top right hand side and you will see the far right circle that is your profile picture. Click on it, and then select "profile"
3. What you now see in the URL bar is not www.goodeads.com but instead your profile name. For example, this Pixie account shows www.goodreads.com/user/show/52624155-...
This means my user name is 52624155-uno-pixie
4. In the sign up form you will be asked to enter the number and the name separately (this helps with our formulas and to make sure people enter this information correctly). So my number would be 52624155 and my name would be uno-pixie
There's something about this time of year.Christmas, new years eve, summer... and then UNO... ;)
I started UNO in 2016 as a simple team challenge which is all about socialising rather than competition. Looking forward to all the prior, and new, players this year.
I haven't captained a challenge for a while, but I do like to captain UNO so I'll have that hat on in 2022.
Not sure I have a book I'm desperate to read, but I always enjoy hunting for coloured covers :)
I have a bunch of books I want to read, and have been meaning to read but somehow there just are not enough hours in a day hehe.Uno is definitely the challenge I'm looking most forward to every year as well because it's relaxed, fun and yet does come with a bit of a challenge :-)
I always look with happy feelings and exitement to the New year: what books to read, what challenges to take part in...? I've done UNO a couple of times, but not sure what years. I know I participated this year.
My favorite genres are fantasy and thriller. So, I've got a couple of them planned this year.

Yay, I'm excited that it's time. I heard this is the challenge where you get more than a week to read a book- I've been on the look out. This will be my first year! 📚📖🎊I have played the Bachelor Game before, so I have a little experience. My favorite genres are romance, dark romance & urban fiction. 🤪 Here's to a great game!! ☃️💜🤎
2 books I'm excited about for 2022:
Yay, new UNO! Really looking forward to it. I've participated several times. The previous UNO was the first team challenge where I co-captained, and we had a wonderful team. My favorite genres are fantasy, horror, scifi, and non-fiction. My TBR is longer than humanly possible, but I don't think I have any specific book in mind that I'm especially eager to get to. Well, maybe the next in the Mercy Thompson series, once it's published.
Hey I’m Kelly and this will be my fourth Uno, and I have co captained the last two which was really fun! I do another reading challenge which is similar to Uno in that we are split into teams each quarter with monthly prompts, so this is like coming home! My favourite genres are fantasy, true crime, and queer fiction, and I read a lot of YA. My TBR is massive so I’m relying on other people to tell me what to get out of the library in 2022.
I've been looking forward to this the entire month! I'm so excited! I'm taking part in challenges that are mostly passive or one-sided, so UNO will be my only team challenge in 2022. I played last year and had so much fun with my team.
I read mostly classics and contemporary, but I'm going to read more poetry in 2022, which I've sorely missed. I'm also going to work my way into reading some French novels - my grasp of the language is not that good yet, so I'm hoping to work my way to it.
I kid you not, I created a 2022 spreadsheet to record the books I want to read. It's 25-30 books long already. Some are re-reads (Pride and Prejudice, The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings series, Little Women), and most are first timers.
Looking forward to playing :)
Hello lovely UNO-Afficionados,I first participated in UNO in 2017 and that was also my very first team challenge on GR. I have been a fan ever since.
Looking forward to playing with you all. ♡♡♡
Hi all, so excited to see sign ups are open for Uno. This was my first ever team challenge (6 years ago?) and the only one I've stuck with every year. It's such a nice way to start the new year. I've captained and co-captained a few times but work tends to be crazy busy in Feb so the last couple of years I've enjoyed just being part of the team.
Oh UNO... how I love thee. I've been playing since 2016 and looking forward to hunting for those colour covers.
Signed up!
Another round of UNO! This will be my fourth year looking forward to it. Lots of books ready to go. Lots of familiar names here, hope you are all enjoying the holidays

Aloha everyone! I'm Lauri from Hawaii & I'm excited to play again. This will be my 7th year... My favorite genres are historical fiction, mysteries, paranormal & chick-lit, although I will read just about anything. I prefer reading actual paper & ink books. I just love the feel & even the smell of a book. Can't wait to get started!
This is the earliest I've signed up for Uno! Can't miss it! It will be my 3rd year. My favorite genres are mysteries/thrillers and the classics but honestly, I read all kinds of stuff. Looking forward to seeing what everyone is reading and recommendations.
hi guys, I'm Sammy - and first-time Uno player (literally first time. I've never played the card game either. Wasn't a thing here when I was growing up) I have played many other team challenges over the past few years though.I like reading a bit of everything, though not hugely fond of YA or romance (or YA Romance, lol).
Books I can't wait to read this coming year? All of them! although my daughter is moving out again in a few weeks, which means I'll have a place where I can sit at a desk to read some of those huge hardback collections. Planning to start with The Complete Works of H.P. Lovecraft :D
Hi all!!!!So, I have been hearing about UNO since 2016 *waves to Karen* but never joined. I wasn't even a perks member - that changed today!
So, yeah, the team challenge addicted is playing newbie... I am so excited!!!
You had me at relaxed and no page points. After how crazy work has been for the past months I need it.
So. No idea how it's going to be and zero expectactions. What can be translated to I'm here, wow me!
*giggles*

Eldarwen wrote: "I could have sworn you guys had played Uno before, Sammy and Sonia?!"Nope!
I joined the group today, 5 minutes before signing up.
Looking forward to playing this again, though I'm stepping back from captaining because captaining does not go well with buying, selling, and moving house.Wheel was brutal so I'm giving myself a break but I'll still be playing.
Hi, all. 👋🏻I have taken part in UNO before (Team Pretty in Pink last year) and it is, without doubt, one of my favourite challenges on GR.
I read anything and everything though romance tends to be a tough genre for me.

I only signed up as a player, because A: It's my first time playing, and B: I'm still burnt out from wheel and need a break. A year or two should do it, lol.
Am also supposed to be getting house ready for sale, but that isn't going anywhere fast :(
Well, it is on disney+ , the series, not the movie...although it looks like it's on amazon prime es, sooooo no excuses... and I still have a couple of last minute christmas gifts to knit/crochet....
uhmmmm
Oh look it's my favorite time of year again! :) So excited for UNO hopefully I'll get through a hefty chunk of the books I got for Christmas this challenge!

Dooooo iiiiittttttt! :D
I will.I'm also tempted to watch wheel of time... those kind of stories that I prefer watching than reading... who knows... maybe big books are in my future after all.
I'll need to re-read WoT before I'll be ready for the show. But I'm totally burnt out on longer books for now, lol.
