Welcome to Team Pemberley. Feel free to share your favorite Pride and Prejudice quotes or favorite Darcy pictures.
Please introduce yourself (include your preferred pronouns), and if you have played UNO before. To get us started what are 3-5 books that you recommend to team mates. I'll start with Murderbot (the first books is All Systems Red) (I will recommend this series to complete strangers), The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet series, and the Penric's Demon series. Also, The Thirty Names of Night, and anything by T. Kingfisher; (She writes horror, romance, fantasy and middle grade books).
Also, just a reminder that all books must be started after UNO starts, so you have quite a bit of time to finish anything you already started and read.
Please feel free to ask any question now and throughout. You can ask here in the thread or message me. I put some books on the planning spreadsheet as an example but feel free to claim colored covers and I can change mine.

Thanks for taking on the Captain's role. This is my 4th UNO, so obviously I really enjoy it. I've added a few books to our spreadsheet that I'm planning to read for another challenge and have also spotted a couple of Reverses on team member's shelves I can add later.
I'm an Australian author of romance and rom sus but I'm here strictly as a reader. I read a lot of crime, mystery and thrillers but will read pretty much anything. I just read a terrific non fiction Sea People: In Search of the Ancient Navigators of the Pacific which is about the settlement of the remote islands of the Polynesian triangle from NZ to Easter Island to Hawaii. I love Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series, Ann Cleeves- Telling Tales and Aus author Michael Robotham. I also really enjoy Andrea Camilleri's Inspector Montalbano series -- The Other End of the Line and Donna Leon's Venice set police series. Italian detectives eat a lot and well.
Oh--could you please fix the link to my Goodreads page? For some reason it's going to someone called Jessica. No idea why.

I'm Alina (she/her/hers) and I mostly read fantasy and contemporary fiction! This is my first time playing UNO so I apologize if I mess things up as I'm not familiar with this whole thing, but I'm excited to join in nonetheless. Here are some books I've enjoyed in the past year or so to name a few:
(Please look up trigger warnings before reading :) )
-Punching the Air by Ibi Zoboi & Yusef Salaam- An beautifully written YA poetry book that opened my eye to the criminal justice system.
-Sadie by Courtney Summers- A very emotional and raw YA thriller that I honestly still think about almost every day.
-The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang- A very dark and complex fantasy book that was hard to read, but also one of my all-time favorite fantasy books.

Favorite series is the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher.
Big fan of Ilona Andrews, Darynda Jones, Simone St. James, Patricia Briggs.

You signed up with you author page, and it may be easier in the future to sign up with 3226935-elisabeth-rose instead. This is how I got the links to work for comments, but it is having issue finding your shelves. Can you share the link to your UNO shelf so I can link it? Thanks, I have never had to deal with an author page before so bit of a learning curve.

It hasn't been a problem before so it must be possible. I didn't know there was another ID.
Is this what you mean?

I found it. It's under the other number as well, (https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...). You are good now.

My name is Jen. This is my 5th year (I think) doing UNO, I really look forward to this challenge every year.
Currently I'm reading The Coward by Stephen Aryan and I think it actually might be a new fave.
I tend to read Fantasy, Sci-Fi, YA, some mystery, and thrillers as well honestly depends on my reading mood.
Ooh current favourite series is the Spellslinger series.
Looking forward to doing this challenge with everyone! :)

My name is Ella and I am your co-captain! This is my first year doing UNO so don't mind me if I get a little confused every once in a while. My pronouns are she/her.
Currently, I'm buddy reading Crooked Kingdom and I'm also reading A Court of Wings and Ruin. I'm also listening to the audiobook of Boyfriend Material.
I love to read any fantasy, romance or historical fiction books.
Some of my favourite past reads include: The Book Thief, Felix Ever After, Six of Crows, A Court of Mist and Fury and The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.
I'm soo excited to do this challenge with everyone and to read some amazing books!

One of my other favourite series is Six of Crows series. How are you enjoying Crooked Kingdom?

I'm Jax. 2nd year doing Uno challenge. I really am getting back into reading so like looking at everyone's suggestions. I think my favorite last year was The Girls I've Been and Pride and Prejudice (yes, I just finished it last week finally) I'm in the NW part of the US. I also recently finished the Book Thief and really enjoyed that.

I'm Tina and will be playing my someteenth UNO (3 or 4) this year. I'm been a co-captain before but needed to take a break from captain work as I have a tendency to sign up to every team challenge as kind of exhausted my self oops. So kudos to Lexi and Ella being our captain and co-captain!
As for books I recommend... this one always stumps me. I would say at the moment, I recommend (which my brother recommended to me) Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win is a very good read if you are interested in being a better worker/boss and having a more successful company. I think it's also a good read to get some perspective on life as well. I took my time listening to it though
Anywho, looking forward to getting to know you all a bit better (:

I'm loving it so far! I am nervous about chapter 40 though! I do love the development that each of the characters goes through and I also love how there is finally a Wylan POV.

We are waiting on two more people but just wanted to post some basics for anyone wanting to start planning:
1. Books must be started after the start of the challenge (1 Feb)
2. Min page count = 100p (25k words / 3hr audio for Childrens, Play, Poetry et al)
3. Spell out using: first word of title / author / character / place
For title, it is first word only and for characters, they must be relatively main parts and no pets/animals (unless the book is about talking mice/dragons etc).
Here is the link for the planning spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

Up to you if you want to read it sooner. We never seem to have any issue covering blue, as versus green or red and esp yellow.

TinEye however thinks this is orange. :) Looks yellow on Kobo.

Sorry, I was tired yesterday (finished a project at work) and forgot the Wild Draw 4's. We have 3 for Feb so we will need to replicate three of the color cards. I will put Elisabeth's book down for one of them.
Also, looks yellow to me. I use tineye for percents as it does that well but not always colors themselves.

5 Green - Lexi
7 Green
4 Blue
5 Blue - Ella
6 Blue - Mary
7 Blue - Lexi
4 Red - Jax
9 Red - Lexi
Wild Draw 4 - Elisabeth (Blue 6)
Wild Draw 4 - Lexi (Blue 7)
Wild Draw 4

It has been used in the past so you are good

I am interested in reading pretty much anything. I haven't read any series for several years and may try to get back in to doing that this year.
Some of my recent favorite reads have been:
-The Gloaming - Melanie Finn
-A Children's Bible - Lydia Millet
-What Happens at Night - Peter Cameron
-The Glass Kingdom - Lawrence Osborne
-Real Life - Brandon Taylor
-Long Bright River - Liz Moore
-The Society of Reluctant Dreamers - Jose Eduardo Agualusa

I'm just a little confused at the moment. I am unsure of which cards we have and the number of particular cards that we have. As in for example do we have 4 cards with 7 on them or do we have 7 cards with 4 on them? The same goes for the coloured cards. I read the list and it says that we have 5 blue number 1's but then underneath it says that we have 6 blue 1's. I am unsure of which cards we actually have and I was wondering if someone could edit the list so that it makes sense when you read it.
E.g. have a card list then next to it have a list with the frequencies.
Card Frequency
0 6
1 3
2 5
Something like above.
and for the coloured cards do something like this:
COLORED CARDS:
0 Red
1 Yellow
1 Blue
3 Yellow
I hope this makes sense. This just makes it easier to read and understand.

The color cards have both numbers and colors. A Red 9 needs to have a red cover and an N title/author/ character, such as

For each color card, we have 1 each and then three will be duplicated by a Wild Draw 4.

I put my name next to The Gilded Wolves on the planning sheet in the reverse column as I had read it.

Good idea, Agatha Christie is always fun to read.

That works great, thank you

Great, thank you, Mary

Hope all of you are doing well.
This is my first time playing the UNO Challenge and I am really looking forward to it. I'm new to this and will definitely need your guidance. I'll check the sheet and add few books I plan to read.
My preferred pronouns are She/ Her.
I generally like Mystery and have recently started reading books that don't fall in that genre.
A few books that I'd like to recommend are
Digital Fortress by Dan Brown
And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie
Finlay Donovan Is Killing It by Elle Cosimano
A Lady's Guide to Mischief and Mayhem by Manda Collins
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
Here's to a great time ahead of us.

Can I ask that if someone reads an amazing book that you talk it up here whether or not we have completion posts, I'm always looking for interesting books (especially the unhyped off the radar types) and would be happy to take recommendations?

I am excited to get started in just over a week. Remember that all books must be started after the challenge starts.
Please post in the spreadsheet if you can and completion posts are not needed unless you cannot access the spreadsheet for some reason
Jax,
That sound like fun and I would encourage people to post fun and especially less well-known books in the thread with a sentence about who may or may not like it.

Also, every year I do this I am always extremely impressed by how everyone can plan their reads. I pretty much read based on mood or what currently catches my attention, so while I have several books that I think I'll read there is a strong possibility I will not read them at all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyway, super excited to start next week. \( ゚ヮ゚)/
