I need several readers to look at a spiritual fantasy novel and provide honest feedback. 'The Other Side of Beyond: Two egos in search of the Self' is about a young husband and wife who each in turn find themselves translated to a location strange to them. Chapter one begins Andrews story, chapter two, Ramani's. their adventures then alternate through most of the book until in chapter 28 they meet at an Ashram for the grand finale of both their adventures. (Chapters can be read sequentially or alternately and the latter odd first for even first.) In each adventure the objective is for the person to discover who they truly are, Andrew by revisiting his past, Ramani by discovering her Indian origins. Andrew's adventure is mostly contemplative whereas Ramani's is more daring. She discovers she has more grit than she knew. The Ashram of the closing chapters is based on that of Ramana Maharshi and guru's teaching models his. Andrew's adventures visits many aspects of religion, whereas Ramani's is more about relationships and trust. It is unashamedly didactic, but hopefully not so directly to be unbearable. A reader of the early chapters, a retired senior lecturer in English, said she loved it.
