How about a movie of Landover?

J.A. Edwards I am sure Terry Brooks has been hounded about this for years. Of all of the many stories he's engaged us in, this one is so original that it is worth considering. Whether it's about Ben, his daughter, or possibly start with the loss of the previous heir, it would be a great movie if done properly.

When is the last time a movie came out about a normal, everyday guy, in a medieval time, with real magic? The dream farce, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court maybe? But this is a different story that is not in the protagonist's sleep-induced imagination.

K. Morral To reply to your final question - there was a TV series probably ten years ago now called the Tenth Kingdom which saw two ordinary characters drawn into a magical kingdom with many of the fairy tales depicted. I quite enjoyed it (though perhaps a little predictable and 'nice'), but I'm not sure how popular it was generally...

Hidekisohma YES. I have been saying for fifteen years how this book needs a movie. yes. Maybe leave out books 4-7 though. Those...those weren't very good.

The Tangle Box was one of my favorite reads. I am currently reading the series to my son, and look forward to getting to that one again.

The rest... not his best. But fun.

Jerri I actually reviewed this book today stating: The entire time I read Magic Kingdom, I felt as though I was watching a mini movie in my head. The characters and scenery were well depicted and easily visualized. I would love to see it shown love and brought to life on the big screen by a talented director. The movie that played in my head as I read the book was a mix of Lord of the Rings and The NeverEnding Story with a sprinkle of Harry Potter thrown in. Properly executed I think it could be a classic film.

Michael Otto Think the first book at least should be made into a movie.

Agreed- PROVIDED that they put the book on film instead of trying to twist it into their own story

Jim Stein Definitely would enjoy a well done film. I read two books and listened to the rest on audible narrated by Dick Hill who brought the story to life. I occasionally drove the Blue Ridge Parkway and tried to guess the pull-off where I might find the blue bells and portal to Landover.
