Your Reads - currently reading or finished (2022)
I am planning on starting sometime today Fingersmith by Sarah Waters. My reading goal in 2022 is to read more classics and/or books that are older. I have noticed that in the past several years a majority of my reading has been in new releases - which I love - but I have been neglecting older great books.

I read that a few months ago :) I liked it. I thought Circe
was better, but Song of Achilles is still very good! Circe is a newer book so I think the writing/storytelling are more polished.

I've been reading the Earth's Children series by Jean M. Auel, which starts with The Clan of the Cave Bear
. I'm just about to start the 4th one (The Plains of Passage). I've also been listening to the audiobooks read by Sandra Burr and I enjoy her narration.
Ms. Auel researched Paleolithic human life extensively, so the books are like a history tour while also being great stories with relatable characters :) They really give me an appreciation for human civilization and progress!

I have this on my TBR. I'll be interested to see what you think of it.

Cammy wrote: "Started reading The Song of Achilles for my KC book club."1/3/22 Just finished this book today and gave it 4 stars. Frazer Douglas did a wonderful job narrating and bringing this book to life!
I finished For the Wolf the other day and loved it. It's a mix between Little Red Riding Hood and Beauty and the Beast. Highly recommend.
Currently reading The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry. Once I finish that, I am moving onto one of this month's Goodreads Choice books, Broken.
I just finished Reckless Girls. I thought it was really good. I read it pretty quickly and never lost interest. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I am starting Shuggie Bain for my real life book club and The Last House on the Street for review. I also picked up In Love & Pajamas from the library and I'm expecting it will be a quick and cute read.

Finished Broken by Jenny Lawson. Excellent Book!! I got the audio version and soooo glad I did! I felt like I was in her house just listening to her talk. The book was funny and relatable.
I just finished
The Push and boy was it dark and depressing. I literally could not stop reading, but it was hard to keep going. I haven't read a book like this in a while. You definitely should be in the mood to read this one.
Having said all that, I did rate it 5 stars.
oh, one other thing. It was listed in GRCA under mystery/thriller and there was nothing mysterious or thrilling about it. It was complete family drama/feels. It is always interesting how different people categorize things.
my review
Finished reading The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman. It was okay. There are many characters and storylines.
I just finished The Last House on the Street
. It was not what I was expected, but it was very good. The book was originally being promoted as a mystery/thriller, but it wasn't a thriller at all. It was really a dual timeline story with a strong historical fiction storyline and a bit of a mystery in the more recent timeline. The mystery was definitely not the central focus of the story though. I still really enjoyed it.

I'm currently reading Bewilderment
and I'm not sure if the book is supposed to be bewildering or the reader, because I am bewildered and confused. It's interesting though.
I just finished The Girl in the Painting
which was a historical fiction set in India. Excellent read! The setting and culture of India was beautifully done.

Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner
I finished The Chase. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I am now reading Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead, which is really good. It reminds me of the Miss Fortune series. I also just started Sitting Murder.

I just finished Sitting Murder. I thought it was really good. There were a lot of characters and it reminded me of an Agatha Christie type mystery.

I just finished Crying in H Mart, Michelle Zauner. I thought it was a very moving book. I liked it and was often touched by the relationship developing between Michelle and her Mom. Still, it was not a 5* read for me. I rated it 4*.I just started Damnation Spring, Ash Davidson and am also reading Come Fly the World: The Jet-Age Story of the Women of Pan Am which I like as it covers such a glamorous time for flying.
I can't wait to read Come Fly the World: The Jet-Age Story of the Women of Pan Am. It sounds so interesting.
Vicki Willis wrote: "I can't wait to read Come Fly the World: The Jet-Age Story of the Women of Pan Am. It sounds so interesting."Vicki,
I haven’t read that much, but the cover alone is cool. Pan Am had designer stewardess outfits made for the women.
Just finished reading The Christie Affair, it was really good. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The stories for each character were well woven together.
Reading Dracula by Bram Stoker. The characters are writing letters or journals so I find it an interesting way to write a book and read a book.
Savanes the book was called His Christmas Cinderella by Christy Jeffries and Savanes I really liked the book called His Christmas Cinderella by Christy Jeffries and Vicki I read the book called Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough and Vicki I really didn’t like the book called Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough
I recently read CHICKEN CULPRIT by Vikki Walton. This is a cozy mystery. I absolutely loved this! New, different story, good characters, funny and emotional at times. I would recommend!
Recently finished IN OVER HER HEAD by Leighann Dobbs. A really good, clean story about a girl trying to save her home. How far will she go? She is in the fashion industry and meets a good man, but he’s the boss. I loved it!
I just finished The Golden Couple. It was the first book I've read by Greer & Pekkanen and I thought it was really excellent.
My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I'm also just finishing The Four Winds, which is also excellent, but in a completely different way.

I have actually read The Golden Couple and The Four Winds in the last month as well and rated both of them 5 stars!
That's excellent, Vicki. :) I gave 5 stars to The Golden Couple and The Four Winds still has potential for it too.

We like to see a bit of discussion about the books we are reading, rather than just posting the book link (and the occasional link to a review). The comments should include:
- Books you just started or are currently reading. You might want to add a few words about the book to let other members know whether you like it or not so far.
- Books you just finished, Please include your rating (1-5 stars) and a few words about the book (even if it's something as short as "I loved it / hated it.") If you wrote a full review, you can share the link to it but please include a short summary of your thoughts alongside it.
