aPriL does feral sometimes (cheshirescratch) I think this is a very helpful review. http://thelectern.blogspot.com/2009/0...

I enjoyed Murr's cute satire, but I found the human story tedious. However, I realize the musician's biography is a useful historical document of ideas, life events and 'the Art of the Novel.' Kreisler's adventures are boring to read about despite the gothic elements. I quite liked Master Abraham in both sections.

I do not think these two 'accidentally' printed together plot lines mesh very well together as a mirrored theme, although Hoffmann's intention may have been satire of a doppleganging.

Kreisler, not so much.
