My review - 3/5 Rating
It took me a long time to get into this book, but I persisted because it was picked as the monthly read in a Book Club.
Overall, there is a lot more going on in the end than your average romance, and towards the latter part of the book a LOT of revelations are made which spin the story on its head. I liked the fact there was than met the eye and this made it a worthwhile read in the end.
It is an interesting story in that the guy is perceived to be the hopeless romantic (and he makes chocolate - match made in heaven) whilst the girl is a hard nut to crack in that department.
However, there were many cliches which made me cringe at times. Of course they are both "beautiful" people that everyone wants, they have an amazing sex-life immediately, and they connect on so many levels... hmmm.
When I first met my husband, I was hopelessly in love and everything else was clouded over. I did know I wanted to marry him and so I love the idea of love-at-first-sight. Sometimes though, it would be nice for books like this to have some realism. The reason they fall out is over a misunderstanding, what about real issues? A lot of it was hard to believe and pure fairy-tale.
Either way, an American version of love found against the odds with a sweet ending.
I have to add that I really liked the brother... he was the one I connected with the most.
