What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

This is a Children's/Young Adult book. It is a mystery. The cover is red and black, with a Sherlock-Holmes-like figure. The title is something like "… and Son."
The story focuses on a boy (around 13, I think) whose father used to be a detective, but is now in a coma. People in his hometown are committing crimes and all are found to have the same book in their possession. I have more details, but they involve spoilers.
