Not my post, copied from Facebook, just trying to help. Already ruled out Lovely Bones, Mystic River, The Gift, Into the Water, Bridge to Terebithia, etc.
I’m wondering if anyone can help me figure out what book this is! I tried a Reddit group but didn’t get a response.
So there is a river with a bridge involved, a girl has died/been murdered and I’m fairly sure it starts with her already dead.
I think her boyfriend was under suspicion.
I think a college professor is involved somehow - maybe he was weirdly invested in it? Hmmm I think someone was writing to him about it or he was writing articles?
I think a necklace is also significant
And the river def comes into play a lot, I feel like the boyfriend goes there a lot and that’s where she was killed
That’s all I can remember right now but it’s so annoying cos I really want to remember what it is! I have checked my ebooks and nothing rings a bell so I must have read it in hard copy but can’t see it in my book cubby (and actually this reminds me that I was going to organise that today!)
If it rings a bell with anyone please let me know! It’s really annoying me plus I want to read it again.

In my mind, the unique device of this book is that the narrator is in heaven looking down as things unfold. However, I bet what made it popular is how she died which I found unsettling. Tiffany is a little off - there is not a river in the book and the boyfriend is not really a suspect. I caught a bit of the movie and at the time decided not to watch it but sort of wish I had. The ending of the book is really weird, the narrator goes from just being an observer to have power to act on earth. If she had that power, why not give it to her from the start?
I immediately thought Bridge to Terabithia. I see that you ruled that out . . . hmmm. Now I need to know!
Please guys, do you know the name of a novel, I think it's harlequin or Mills and boon.
It's about a red head whose boss is called malcolm or so and together, the go for an event. This red head meets a handsome man, who has dark hair, in an event where the man's childhood friend would be singing. The singer is in love with the man but the man likes the red head and pursues a relationship with her even flies her out with a private jet and proposes to her. Turns out that the red head is the heir of something the man wanted and when she finds out, she calls off their engagement not knowing that the man really loves her.
Their split caused the man pain. The man's elderly secretary attempts to kill the red head for causing her employer, who she sees as a son, pain.
