Yeah, I'm not sure where Coraline should go - as an adult, it scared the bejeezus out of me!

There are two little gift ideas to go along with this book. One is a hag stone, which are commonly sold on Etsy. These are rocks with holes in the middle. They are naturally occuring, and apparently the Irish coast is rich with them, judging on who sells them!

You could also buy a drilled stone (also very easy to find on Etsy). And I haven't seen all of the Coraline movie (I don't like movies...), but I seem to remember it was a green emerald-like triangular stone or something in the movie. I'm sure it looks better on the screen, being bright and geometric and all, but I feel it isn't a cool as a naturally occuring phenomenon.

The other gift idea is a bit of a stretch - it's a key plot element, but even then Coraline is "too old for it" (and I believe the audience reading it would feel the same about themselves). So keep that in mind - for the right recipient (perhaps an adult who enjoys the book), I think a vintage child's tea set would be so fitting! (No spoilers here!)

(If you manage to find a hag stone / adder stone / milpreve / witch's egg, etc., there's also one in the bittersweet story A Year and a Day, which you can read for free on OpenLibrary. ;)
