Play Book Tag discussion

A bit of a slow start for me. I was hoping for more about the McPheron brothers and Victoria but, once Victoria moved out of the ranch to head off to college, the brothers disappear for a while and we are introduced to other characters. Of course, as the story goes on, the reader becomes more invested in these other characters. Since they all live in the small community of Holt, CO, you expect them to meet up somewhere but there isn't an immediate move in that direction.

The reader of this audio probably has the pace of Haruf's story down just right - sort of slow and easy. So if you are looking for high action, don't look here. Although there is a point where the story really picks up quite a bit, but that would be a spoiler!

I became quite involved in all these people so I found that the end was a bit abrupt. Not that it matters too much as Haruf has a sequel and I'll be picking it up right away to get more about this community and its wonderful characters.

I have read most of Haruf's books - they are all slow, gentle, peaceful. Just keep reading them and be peaceful along the way. I love them and go back now and then to slow down from my mysteries of political junk. Good review. peace, janz
