Kathryn Ford (cathy87) | 64 comments I'm not the biggest fan of scifi, but I really like Brandon Sanderson, so I am willing to give this book a try. :)

D | 34 comments I'm getting close to the end already. Really got drawn in at the start and it has kept me turning pages!

Edit: Finished now. Those last few chapters had me riveted!

Can't wait for more people to finish so we can discuss some points.

Kathryn Ford (cathy87) | 64 comments I finished it, and absolutely loved it!
I'm very impressed that a male author was able to write a first person female so well, that normally doesn't happen.
I loved Spensa, she was so unique and quirky.
The story was really good, and there were so many great characters. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I've already read the other books that are out in the series.

D | 34 comments I was similarly impressed with his ability to portray a female character.

His naming of people and places is kinda weird, but the story did keep me going back to see what happens next.

I have the next two books and plan to read them soon.

Kathryn Ford (cathy87) | 64 comments Just a word of advice. You need to read the books in a certain order. So next you have to read Starsight. Then two novellas, Sunreach, then Redawn. After that you read Cytonic, and then the next novella Evershaw.
If you skip the novellas you will not understand the entire story. I know normally novellas aren't that important to read, but in this series they are.

Haha, if you think his names are weird in Skyward, well it just gets crazier the further you go.

D | 34 comments Thanks for the heads up Kathryn. I'll track down the novellas.

Oceania (ghostofmakaris) | 12 comments Skyward was the first book I read this year and I am absolutely obsessed. This is what I was definitely looking for, especially compared to how disappointed I was with the first Aurora Rising book.
