Always happy to see a Trollope nominated... especially one I haven’t read yet! :D
I nominate Lady Audley's Secret by Mary Elizabeth Braddon.
I would like to try again for Dickens' Oliver Twist, which its Goodreads blurb describes as Combining elements of Gothic Romance, the Newgate Novel and popular melodrama, Dickens created an entirely new kind of fiction, scathing in its indictment of a cruel society, and pervaded by an unforgettable sense of threat and mystery.
Daniela wrote: "I would like to nominate The Vicar of Bullhampton by Anthony Trollope."I am on the last 10% of the The Vivar of B and am enjoying it. During the read, I often have wished I was reading it in a group read as I think the characters' choices and actions could lead to some fun discussion comments.
If it is chosen, though, I'll try to refrain from commenting so I don't post inadvertent spoilers based on my knowledge of the characters future choices and actions.
George Gissing is an author I very rarely hear being read or referred to. Some time ago, I had the good fortune to read (and thoroughly enjoy) NEW GRUB STREET. This week I found a copy of
The Odd Women
in one of our local Little Free Library boxes. So I'd like to nominate that as a group read for the summer.
