The Everything Store question

I see so many of us use Amazon, why not, it is convenient, effective, fast, lots of careful wrapping, door to door, etc. Is Art still is a valuable commodity in our society? Without art and design we would not have as much beauty in our world. Architecture, music, calligraphy, photography, and of course Books to name a few. As a Body of Authors on Goodreads have we thought about the cost breakdown? Our long hours of edits, ideas, formatting, rewrites, publishing and marketing is incorporated into our price. Can anyone explain? I publish a book on Lulu for 29.99 They publish and print it, Amazon sells it for the same price and I receive 4.40. If purchased on Lulu, I receive 15.40.
I recently asked for a review to be published on Amazon and the client who loved the book responded ,
"They are a predatory company".
Does that comment give you pause, .... As Artists were is our voice and value expressed?
