Beautiful Disaster question

So I was convinced it was a Susan Johnson book but I can't find the information. I believe the main character is part Native American and the female is a white woman, I thought it was Blaze but I did't find any information confirming that.
Help haha my son is 24 and finally allowed to know where his name came from:)
