this site explains it well and ofc you can always go more in depth, usually what dice you use for damage changes on your class/weapon example: for a dagger it’s a d4 but for a long sword it would be a d12 (not sure if that’s right but i think it is) and attacks without weapons always use d4 like punching and kicking or from an improvised weapon like a rock

yep d20 is used for basically everything, if you don’t have one on hand searching up ‘dice roller’ on google pops up with all types of dice up to the d20 and you can roll them

actually the place where i made my character has a d20 symbol and you click that and every dice pops up, select one and it rolls like that

yeah dnd beyond is great for that too, i use it a bit for my characters

its hard to explain but it makes me feel better knowing there is a more distinct option then just heaven and hell, options such as valhalla being as long as you fought until your death there was a good chance you entered, then freyjas realm for those she hand picks herself, and helheim where only the worst would go of course that isnt all of it but thats a basic summary

What are all the Norse afterlife’s and how do you get there?

well there are three if memory serves right origionally five but there are 3 everyone knows:
Valhalla: for those picked by the valkyries under odins guidance who died in battle

Folkvangr: for those picked by freyja who died in battle

Helheim: those who died of old age or did heinous crimes so horrid the gods forbid they set foot in their halls or their leaders could decide to say they dont

The Realm of Rán: those who died at sea were caught in the sea godesses net and their souls stayed there forever

The Burial Mound: basically a drauger or zombie a soul who decided not to pass on and caused problems (thats my viewpoint from what i learned)

That could be a possibility but Eleanor of Aquitaine was one of the main persons who started the stories of king arthur and that was in the 11th century

Unless those stories came from the actual King Arthur then it’s more likely that my character knows him, i can’t watch the vid now but i might later

The video is a historical analysis of King Arthur and the stories of him throughout time. It comes to the conclusion that if he did exist, he would be living around 500's in whales. Which is when our game takes place and where your girl is from.

So Leon what afterlife do you go to if you die of old age or are murdered?

dying of old age would be of helheim but depending on what you do, like have a heartattack while fighting it would be considered a warriors death since you died in a fight, and being murdered would have the same concept,: did you go down swinging if you did, its the same if you didnt do either then it was up to the clan leader to grant you the chance for your soul to go to valhalla and give you proper funeral rites

it really varies on what happens i suppose but if just regular old age and no fight it would be helheim i cant say for certain on the murder myself i havent come across that senario yet

For the murder thing I was thinking financial motive like they wanted to collect on your insurance and didn’t see it coming so you couldn’t fight back.

actually for those that died of old age or even at birth the goddess hel is gentle and allows them to dine in her hall the ones who died for heinous crimes however and not honoring the gods and being put on trial and killed in the blood eagle (most dishonorable death if i remember right also gruesome and a torture method)
