Already finished and I liked this one. Not sure if it's because I now know the characters better and the continuing storylines are keeping me interested, or it's just a more appealing story. I did like Muldoon, although Joan was a little annoying with her constant age issue. (I was ready for it to be resolved l-o-n-g before it was.)
Read this not one of my most favorite characters. Cindy I agree she was too hung up on the age issue
I'm about halfway through and enjoying it overall. This is the 2nd heroine with a hang-up about a really minor age gap (6 years is really not a thing). I'm beginning to think that Brockmann is the one with the issue.
Re Mary Lou - Every time I start to feel sorry for her, she says or thinks something so profoundly racist or obnoxious that I lose all sympathy.
Agree, Lauren…this so-called age gap has shown up a few times. If it’s significant (15-20 years) it *might* be relevant, but 6-7 years is not much…gotta wonder how often this is going to show up in her novels.
Cindy wrote: "gotta wonder how often this is going to show up in her novels."I know. This repetitive issue is very irritating as it creates a forced conflict where none actually exists.
I just remembered that it is in the previous book as well as Molly is older than Jones. IIRC, she is in her 40s and he is in his 20s. So what? *sigh*
I've finished it and it was very good. I think Teri and Stan in book #3 are still my favorite couple but Joan and Mike are so cute. I love their witty banter.
That said, Mike is my favorite hero so far. The man is simply too delicious for words, lol!
Vinnie and Charlie are also wonderful, and it was sad that Vinnie (view spoiler)
Mary Lou annoyed me no end. She is just such a selfish and self-absorbed woman. I think we are supposed to sympathize with her, but I don't. She made her bed and then she had to lie in it. My sympathies were all for Ibrahim. He deserves better. I wonder if he will be in the next book.

Against her better judgment, Joan finds herself drawn to the handsome young officer. Skilled at being “one of the guys” in the mostly male world of politics, she is dismayed when Muldoon breaks through her defenses. While tension mounts between them, fueling their growing attraction, a far more sinister danger is lurking, as terrorists plot a daring attack against the president. To protect their commander in chief, Joan and Muldoon must not only risk their hearts—but their very lives. . . .
